I can’t believe that my skin is getting back to normal. So glad to have these recs! Just found you recently and I wish I knew about these products back then! I’ve lived in a very dry climate for over 30 years now and nothing I’ve tried works as well. Thank you! I go through a lot of it though and about to open my second tube. Have you tried the lotion version? I’ve been curious about that one. Also, I really like the Soon Jung 2x Intensive Barrier Cream. It’s great for days when it’s not as dry out and my skin needs something a bit lighter. I’m nearly done with my first tube of that and have a backup on hand. I like to add a bit of marula oil to it sometimes, depending on how my skin is feeling. Great recommendations that have both helped. Xoxoxo

My moisture barrier is doing pretty well I think, but I have oily and not a sensitive skin. But I do make sure that I don't over exfoliate with acids now that winter is here. Centella and snail products are calming too. I have samples of that Missha Artemisia essence and my skin seems to like it, I think I'll buy the mist. The effects are nothing like on your skin of course, but feels pleasant and soothing. All in all this a great subject for videos, here in Scandinavia I see many suffering from this especially at winter when the air is dry and cold + the central heating. Also the dominant skin type here is thin sensitive skin, and many over exfoliate and then the cycle is ready...
@KellyDriscoll5 жыл бұрын
It's so true, the winter weather really sets you up for barrier problems, especially if you're using harsh products/prone to issues! It's always good to know about the barrier and how it works, makes it easier to avoid these problems! Unfortunately some of us will only learn the hard way (including me! 🙈).

I love this vid, I've learned about new products, which is awesome! An alternative to the Krave Beauty Great Barrier Relief (not available in the UK) is the Apothaka Barrier Support Serum. This was a "skin" saver for me. I'm going to mention 3 Purito products - 1. Deep Sea Water Cream ..... beautiful, light cream to lotion moisturiser 2. Centella Green Level Calming Toner .... 10% Centella Asiatica, Panthenol, Portulance Oleracea Extract 3. Fermented Complex 94 Boosting Essence .... 94% Fermented Complex, 3% Niacinamide I've been really enjoying these. They all have a low PH value and are extremely hydrating. Heaven for my VERY dry skin. I'm going to invest in the toners and essences you have recommended. Why do I find skin care so interesting, 🤷♀️🤷♀️😂😂😂. ❣❣❣

I just recently discovered your channel. Love the helpful comparisons in Korea skincare, btw. I too started using the Klair's drop and mist and I love them both. I have mature (over 40), acne-prone, super-sensitive, fair skin. I've lived most of my life in sunscreen. Love the Korea versions of those too (including the Nivea one in the blue bottle). I've found using fragrance-free, essential oil-free is best for my needs. Most of the basics I use are Clinique's purple jar oil cleanser, CeraVe or La Roche face washes, and the CeraVe lotions (coupled with the Klair's drop/essence), helps me from having barrier issues. I have used Ciapair before. I wish they didn't have so many different essential citrus ingredients in it, but their tiger balm does help with redness and inflammation. I've also started to sheet mask more in the fall months leading into winter to help aid in hydration.

Kelly, thank you - winter is always hard for me in the mountains, I have to step back or even quit my Retin-A because my skin gets so dehydrated. I have RA and my medications make me dry and dehydrated, along with the disease, too! I am so happy that the stuff you recommend is affordable and no more expensive than what I already used. I'm trying out Hada Labo Gokujyun HA cleanser (what is this magic, I have not used a foam cleanser in YEARS), Soon Jung 5.5 toner, Cosrx HA Essence, Stratia Liquid Gold, and Cosrx Rice sleeping pack - OMG SWEET RELIEF! 😱 I think I'll try the Ilyoon moisturizer, $15 for 6 Oz is a very good value.

Unfortunately my skin barrier is currently damaged and I am working to fix it. I have been using oil cleanser, krave matcha hemp cleanser, toners in your list (tiam B5, artemisia, keep cool, primera essence) to provide hydration, A’Pieu Madecassoside Ampoule (which has just 2 ingredients), laneige CSR mist, krave oat cream (like a serum- the oat and minimal ingredient list seems to help calm my skin), inkey list squalane oil with cerave. Unfortunately, my skin wants basic ingredients and so I am not able to do multi ingredient products like stratia liquid gold, fortify currently. Will probably add them later. I am trying to avoid make up when not needed. Just sunscreen and out on the go. Hydration is certainly the 🔑 key!! I would just like to ask that anyone who cares about animals or the sustainability of our oceans to please consider purchasing only plant-derived squalane oil. Your recommended brand, Olivarrier, is plant-derived (YAY!), as is the squalane oil offered by the brands The Ordinary and Biossance. (There may be others but I haven't done a deep dive on this yet.) Squalane oil is a derived from squalene oil, which is found in quantity in both shark livers and some plant products - but it is more work and more expensive to use plant products because plants contain far less oil than shark livers do. This has led to an increase of the slaughter of sharks worldwide, which is not only cruel, but is driving some species to extinction and altering our marine biospheres. Please support companies who don't support this inhumane practice of killing animals just for a single body part! Thank you so much for reading

Hey! My top two skin issues are my moisture barrier and closed comedones. It's kind of one of those chicken or the egg situations. I feel like when I work on my moisture barrier, I compromise the texture and clarity of my pores. When I focus on decongesting my skin, I become very dehydrated and irritated. I'm kind of at a loss for choosing products. I break out from every ceremide containing product I have tried....are ceremides *absolutely* essential, or could I possibly get away with a simple layering hydration with toner and sealing it in with TO nmf+squalane routine?

@@Sasha_xo so, I gave my skin barrier a well deserved break for over a month with no actives and heavily moisturizing. I used the ordinary nmf. It did clog me, but nothing drastically worse and I feel like it helped my barrier a lot. I then ever so slowly added the otc differin. I then moved on to the prescription differin and now I am slowly adding in tretinoin because I know that topical gives me the best results. I’m just moving VERY slowly. I have no more PD and very little irritation ever. Remember, this has all been over the span of an entire year.

Hello! No hate intended but I wanted to comment this... I have tried many of the best seller Korean skincare products and I find that they are no better than the rest of the world's skincare. I wanted to ask what is so special about it beside the gentleness, price and sunscreen filters. I think most of them are too gentle to help for antiaging, they're good for hydration but that's all I see.
@jenniferlee90295 жыл бұрын
Carla Marie Hi Carla yes i think korean skincare is mostly based on hydration and brightening not so much anti aging as they don't really promote anti aging ingredients like retinol. Korean skincare is all about the hydration and glow. Just personal preference i guess. I use Korean and American skincare to balance anti aging and hydration.

Not everyone can handle strong actives. For example I sensitized my skin with only a 10% mandelic acid, I can use it only once in a week, and I can handle only a 5% vitamin C. So I am really enjoying this gentle but effective korean skincare and philosophy.

But it's not lightweight and runny at all! And I have no idea what in the ingrediends list made that thick consistency... So maybe something like that? How to predict the physical characteristics of product by ingredient lists?

@KellyDriscoll5 жыл бұрын
Hey! I'd recommend doing a full routine 2x a day. However, I know exactly what you mean about skin feeling dry and tight! I often reapply an oil and/or moisturizer (or a cica cream) when the feeling gets to to be too much to handle. No need to wash and apply, just slather it on top! It's best to just wash your face 2x a day and no more.

My skin barrier is damaged all over my whole body and face. It is very dehydrated. I consulted it with my dermatologist and other doctors, but they think, it is ok. But I feel my skin is tight all the time. I think it can be some inner problem. I cleansed my body with many detoxis, I eat super clean, drink 4 liters of water a day, don´t sunbathing, don´t smoking or drinkg...I am very carefull with my skin and body care, but nothing is helping. I am very sad... I don´t know what to do

@Kelly Driscoll 🌺 hi! I want to try the Missha Artemisia essence, but when I look up the inky list on skincarisma it gives a 100% unknown rating???
@KellyDriscoll5 жыл бұрын
It only lists one ingredient and often times ingredient decoders don't have info on traditional Korean herbs like mugwort. I give it a 100% awesome rating though!

The biggest threat to my moisture barrier are the western skincare products that I still need to use up before I can start fresh with better and gentler products. I have second cleansers that have parfum in the ingredients, but also things like menthol (from Murad!)🤦🏼♀️...I pray that my skin won't hate me too much for using those up. I also have a toner with parfum and I truly hate how it smells... Why companies add bad smelling perfume to any products?? They don't have noses or they just never bother to ask anyone "what do think of this smell"?🤷🏼♀️ I finally used up a 400ml bottle of Biotherm milky cleanser in the pink pump bottle, and strangely it never bothered my skin as a second cleanser (and as as a AM cleanser) although it has parfum. My backup plan for using up harsh second cleansers is to offer those for my boyfriend. He likes scented products. Those that have salicylic acid might also be good for gentting rid off keratosis pilaris in his arms.

Hahaha I know, it can be a real mixed bag of ingredients. I've tried using "bad" cleansers as hand wash but that just dries out my hands, sometimes I use in the shower as body soap and it's an okay way to use them up!

Would you recommend a spritz or 2 of the Laneige Cream Skin Mist throughout the day on extremely dry days? I find I am super dry feeling in the afternoons ... maybe that "Mist-3pm" thing is really a thing? 😂😂
@KellyDriscoll5 жыл бұрын
Definitely give it a try and see if you get relief! I'm always cautious about misting especially when the air is dry because it can worsen TEWL but the cream skin has a decent amount of moisture that should help seal the mist.

What is your thoughts on the The Face Shop Dr Belmeur range? Is it worth trying?
@KellyDriscoll5 жыл бұрын
I don't like that they put essential oils in their products geared towards sensitive skin, which sucks because they seem to have good products otherwise! 😣

I am starting to think i'm allergic to panthenol 😟. I bought the Etude House Soon Jung relief toner and loved it the first couple uses and then started to get irritation. Still looking for a toner.

Oh no that sucks!

Check into the Keep Cool toner, pretty sure there's no panthenol in it!

Hi,I got the soon jung 5.5 toner and I felt irritation from it too after the first few applications. I also bought the pyunkang yul essence toner.. and separately they made my skin irritated. Although the other day I tried mixing them together in my hand first ( aprox 1 tsp soon jung and 5 drops pyunkang ) and then applied on my face and it didnt irritate it as much at all. I dont know why but that seems to be the way that I can still use the soon jung toner with no irritation.
@michelebaker82025 жыл бұрын
@@cellighshim I bought a tiny 1oz of the pyunkang but I haven't tried it yet. I am also waiting on my MISSHA artmesia (mugwort) essence to come in. If these don't work, I am done wasting my money on toners for a while lol I have been checking products that seem to irritate my skin if used daily and they all include panthenol- Soon Jung Relief toner, Laneige Cica sleeping mask, Plant Base Time Stop collagen ampoule. I googled it and saw something about dermatitis. I think I am on to something. I can get away with the Laneige cica mask because there are a lot of steps before I get to that. However, the Soon Jung JACKED UP my face because it went directly on. I thought it couldn't be that toner, so I kept taking other products out of my routine and keeping the toner in and my skin kept getting worse till I figured out it was the toner....sigh.
@michelebaker82025 жыл бұрын
@@KellyDriscoll I bought the MISSHA artemesia essence to use as a toner (hopefully that's not a bad idea lol) and I have a tiny 1oz bottle of the pyunkang to break open. After all the money I spent during the Sephora sale this week, I am taking a break from the purchases for now lol but I may check out the Keep Cool in the future. I actually have the Laneige cream skin refiner mist, which I love, but I want something even lighter to go before it, which I loved the Soon Jung for until it betrayed me lol

Thank you so much for this video. This video is really helpful and I am going to start this routine for my damaged moisture barrier. I have a question. When I applied a hyaluronic acid serum, it dehydrated my skin more and made me skin sting slightly. Does that have anything to do with a damaged moisture barrier? I am going to start this routine in your video soon. Once I start this routine, will my skin will able to obtain moisture and hydration?
