3 years ago I went crazy and bought a bunch of 3DS games because I had a feeling prices were going to get crazy. So glad I did this. I bought big box kid Icarus for $19.73 free shipping + Many more classics. Lots of games were $10-$15. All the heavy hitters. Prices are insane meow. I always tell people to collect for things that are not in demand. 3 years ago everyone was going crazy for switch stuff.

I remember buying shantae for $5 when toys r us was closing down and selling off everything cheap. I still have it sealed. Also, I think the river city games will probably shoot up in value. They usually do.

MGS 3 was the reason I bought the 3DS back in the day! Blew my mind that they brought that game to the 3DS and that it could be played on a Nintendo handheld at that point in time! Recently played it again!

MGS3 play better on ps vita. 3ds version have massive framerate problems.

Not gonna lie, with prices going up I'm feeling a little vindicated buying certain games when I did. Yokai Watch, Kid Icarus, the Professor Layton series and Kirby Extra Epic Yarn and Planet Robobot specifically. Like yeah, they were bit expensive when I bought them a couple of months ago, but I wasn't priced out like some people are now. And a quick thank you to you because you're one of the reasons I decided to buy the Dragon Quest 3DS games when I did. Money well spent.

my 2 most expensive 3ds games are nano assault at 82.40+ canadian used. and Fantasy Life at 74.68+ canadian.

Worth noting about MGS 3D is it's been discontinued for almost a year now... the rights to the footage used in cutscenes to show historic events passed and Konami didn't want to bother renewing it. Hence why it's been delisted on the eshop (glad I downloaded it before that happened) and it's since become harder to find physical copies.

Just wanna give a shoutout to you and TY! Watching you guys suggest buying the original Yo Kai Watch before the price started to jump, led me to buy 2 sealed copies (meant to only buy 1 lol) for $22 & $24 (usd). I live in Canada so shipping was half the price for both of those purchases. I'm noticing now that there aren't any sealed copies of that game for anywhere near that price (including shipping to Canada). You guys provide a lot of good in depth information and breakdowns for collectors!

Yo Kai watch 3 I grabbed off Amazon in like 2020 brand new for around retail price ($50 cad+tax). I was a big fan of the first and second yo Kai watch games and didn't even know the 3rd came out until then. I was just lucky that Amazon still had them back then.

I found a brand new sealed copy of Monster Hunter Stories in the local game shop. I also was lucky to get Tales of Abyss, Dragon Quest 7 and 8 - all together for around 100 EUR. The prices for these titles on ebay now go crazy, especially, if those are European (PAL) coded versions.

Tekken 3D is super cool because it comes with a full 3D movie based around Tekken! I think that is also in the digital version, but I'm not sure.

I didn’t realize kid Ikarus big box version went up that much. I got the big box version for about $40 complete about 2 years ago. That sold listing of SMT4A is one that I bought. The seller apparently got a bunch of new stock from the manufacturer of all these SMT games. $60 is cheaper than the usual $80 it goes for so I picked it up to finally complete my SMT/persona collection on the 3DS. I got the rest at right around MSRP.

A couple suggestions to add: Atooi Collection, which came out from Limited Run but is still close to it's original price for the time being. A Link Between Worlds probably isn't rare but it is a well-received Zelda game that's surprisingly cheap right now. Also a game I don't hear anyone talk about is PoPoLoCrois: Story of Seasons, which is a cross-over between PoPoLoCrois and the series that spawned from Harvest Moon. A lot of the Story of Seasons games will probably get more sought-after once it becomes more known how they relate to Harvest Moon.

I got Yokai Watch 2: Psychic Specters and Yokai Watch 3 as a bundle for $140 both sealed off of Ebay from a seller in Japan. Glad I bought it then.

As someone who was into 3DS from day one, it’s both a curse and blessing that so many folks are getting into the system today. But, please people, collect games you actually want to PLAY. Don’t collect for “investment” purposes as that just ruins the hobby long term for everyone. Finally, regarding Style Savvy: Styling Star, this game is a digital only release in North America. The physical cartridge only had have a PAL/EU & Japanese release. I don’t think a “World” edition was released either.

If anyone would buy 3DS games only to play them he can easily do not buy them at all because 3DS is the system which is absurdly easy to hack and play anything. Hence the sad true is that there is only one reason why to buy these games -- as an investment for the future.

Finally sucked it up and bought the digital version of Yokai Watch 3. Always wanted the physical because I have 1 and 2 in physical form. But it really is crazy, the prices of these games in physical form. So lucky I have quite a few in physical form. Feel like I could get all my money back and more if I want in the future.

Bo please do a comparison between the regular 3DS version and the world edition, I actually bought the Kirby planet Robobot on Amazon and the description specifically said it would be the regular version , when they sent it to me it was the world edition , I decided to just hold on to it , but would definitely like to know the main difference between the regular and world edition , is the only difference the green and blue circle logo in the front ?

I don't consider myself a collector, but I have amassed a bit of DS and 3DS games pre-pandemic. What I don't understand is why Tekken 3D is THAT expensive? It was just being ignored in the shelves afaik... I have the entire Yokai Watch games except Yokai Watch 3 in which I got them copies around $40, the $400 price range on ebay is ridiculous.

Sigh. I took my eyes off 3DS prices the last two years, and it's crazy now. I highly regret not getting so many lile Robobot and Ever Oasis especially because I knew they were well reviewed and thought to myself I'll definitely get them someday. Went to a local gameshop today, asked him to look up their price for their copy of Dragonball Fusion; he was visibly hesitant to tell me the price because he thought it was an error. lol (it was $80 CAD)

I got Yokai Watch sealed for $10 at Walmart just the other day. The only yo kai game that isn’t rare on 3ds. Also was able to snag Psychic Specters the day it came out and now it’s next to impossible to find.

Nice video. I would just add that your prices are for US versions only. For us in Europe, all prices must be easily multiplied 2x or even 3x because prices of PAL versions of these games (except for Yo-kai Watch 2 and Yo-kai Watch Busters) are totally absolutely RIDICULOUS! Especially if collector wants to have UK versions (distributions) as they are most sought after.

I have 4 or 5 world edition games currently. I try my best not to get that green circle, but I’m not missing out on a great price for a game I don’t have if it’s way cheaper. Never going for a complete set anyways. I also have some of the Canadian games that have the French and English sticker on the box. I think it’s neat to have variety. Only one ugly players choice box though lol

A lot of these prices are absolutely bonkers and artificial inflation. A lot of these games were pretty damn common. Just mere months ago some of them were $20 or less. It just sounds like a bunch of 20 year-old kids who missed out on 3DS think these games are more valuable than they actually are.

i'd argue that 2022 is the worst time to buy 3ds games, the market is at a high point, the panic buying its mostly fueled by fomo, and big influx of influencers hyping it up. In a year or two, when the fomo goes down, so will those crazy expensive sealed games you bought at the hight of the market. look at what happened with pokemon in 2020 vs now

Rhythm thief & the Emperor's treasure was the game that shocked me the most. I can't even FIND this game, hardly anywhere let alone copies and when you do? We are talking FE Special Edition levels of expensive. $500-600 dollars my dude, no joke. This game had a very limited print for the NA version of this game, in particular. Ludicrously expensive. Another small note I wanted to mention is that if you want, you can always buy the PAL versions of games just the cart and then have a NA case so it fits better with what you have. Considering PAL is often cheaper actually than NA versions of a game. Plus you don't have to deal with it looking different .

I'm still surprised about some of these games skyrocketing in price. Metal Gear Solid 3D for instance was an easy pass for a lot of people I talked to back in the day, I am glad I ended up getting it. It was one of the few games compatible with the failed circle pad pro.

Just picked up yokai watch red cats and blue dogs bother used for $300 both of them. Not gonna lie I'm gonna flip them on eBay for $600 both (way lower than any other listing) not normally a flipper but I care nothing for those games and am not passing up on a free $300 from a rich person.
