Been playing guitar since I was 13, 63 now and this strumming video along with some of your other technique videos have been game changers in my playing. Never too late to learn new things! Thanks so much and keep up the good work!

Shane. I knew I bought the Beatbuddy min 2 to help play songs to the beat. I had never thought of using it to learn the wack. Watching this video just give me more confidence now that I will make this work. Thanks for making videos like this. It helps so much to further my learning the guitar.

Thanks for the basic training, Shane. I’m realizing chording comes easier than a nice sounding strum! I keep lured away trying to play popular songs, or old songs I love. But I am not ready..I’ll keep practicing along with you!!

I think "pluck the chicken" is funnier than "walk." With the whack, at first I had my strumming hand too far back towards the bridge, so the full side of the hand was not contacting the strings. Better success my moving the hand more towards the neck so the hand was just striking the strings.

Another excellent lesson explained in a simple and easy to understand manner. Very helpful and explained in a fun way that draws you in to practice. Better than a lot of other over technical KZbin sites where talk of music theory is delivered in a show-off and “look at me I’m great” manner. Shane gets the theory over in a fun way which encourages you to learn - plus many of the song lessons are perfect for us older players. Thanks Shane.

I am an older beginner. It looks like you are utilizing your middle finger in holding the pick. Could you show a close-up of how you hold the pick in one of your upcoming videos? I truly enjoy the enthusiasm you put into your teaching. I find it inspiring. Thanks for your lessons.

Shane, miss you in the glasses! You are the only teacher who made me realise to late, five years ago ? that the guitar mimics the beat and all the other instruments, you do, as you say have to alter the strumming pattern whilst playing. Beginners and I was guilty of it, trying to follow a pattern rigidly. Never works like that.

Perfect! In an earlier video (I believe it was a song and not a strumming lesson) you demonstrated the "whack" but for the life of me I had a hard time getting it. Seeing you delve into the actual technique is so helpful! But for this lesson, shouldn't it be "Whack the chicken, whack the chicken"? ;)
@GuitarAtWork Жыл бұрын
Ha! Thanks for that Frank - hilarious - I really hope this one helps you. Such an important skill - really dig in and make it a daily practice until you feel like you've nailed it. My best to you and very glad to have you here - Cheers! Shane
