Anyone else notice in the actual video that Lucifer looked afraid when the angels and spears around him pointed to Charlie and the background went all red? Then he pulled her away from the red light. Has he been scared that Heaven will turn their attention to Charlie now that she's trying to change things, like he tried to before being cast out?

I did too! But I think he was more scared that she would get killed if the angels paid attention to her!, because Charlie says that lucifer allowed the extermination to happen therefore I think he’s afraid she might get badly hurt by the angels if they were to notice her as a threat :[

I think it goes much deeper than that, honestly. I think that, about 7 years prior, before the extermination that year, Luci and Lilith were planning to do the whole "redeem the sinners" plan, like Charlie is now, and when Luci met with Heaven (Adam, and possibly Sera) they basically said "it's never going to happen", but it didn't end there. Instead of leaving it be, I think Adam used the next extermination as a cover to kidnap, if not kill, Lilith, and followed that up by holding Charlie over Luci, threatening the same to her, to make him back down from the redemption plan. Note the lyrics as Luci explains to Charlie; "When I tried this all before my dreams were too hard to defend, and in the end I wont lose it all again. Now you're the **only** thing worth fighting for." But what about Lilith? Does Luci think Lilith is not worth fighting for? Of course not, they're deeply in love with one another; there's no way Luci would abandon Lilith. He says this because Adam did the unthinkable, and now the spotlight is on Charlie and Luci is genuinely worried the same thing will happen to her.

@@sparkselm173 It's not an improbable theory. But, if Lilith did leave Lucifer, then Charlie is still the only thing he has left. I know he still loves her, that's why he still has his wedding ring on, but too little is known on that front though. I do think Lucifer was speaking more broadly about following his own dreams and trying to change Heaven's mind only to be cast out and punished by essentially his family. It makes more sense than him trying to redeem sinners when that seems to be only Charlie's dream and no one is comparing it to what Lucifer tried. But, he's been in Hell a loooong time. It's possible, after all, he's certainly tried to make Hell a better place with his hotels and theme park.

@@cyberwolf_1013 Personally, I don't think Lilith would willingly leave in anything but the most extreme of circumstances (such as, for instance, if Adam threatened Charlie), and even if she did I don't think there'd be any reason that Lilith and Luci wouldn't still care for and try to protect each other. The things that are said and whole vibe just makes me think the situation regarding Lilith is a touch more definitive. I am reminded of a quote from the start of episode 1; "but Lilith's hope remained, and her dream was passed down to their precious daughter". There's an obvious connection between what Lilith (and likely Luci) were trying to accomplish, and Charlie's redemption plan, and I think it would make perfect sense, both in terms of their personalities and thematically for the series, if that connection was a "parallel" of plans to redeem sinners. As for why we've never heard of Luci and Lilith trying anything of the like, I think it's not unreasonable to assume they wanted to present the plan to heaven and get them on board before going public in Hell and trying to actually recruit sinners; no point in promising redemption and getting people's hopes up if you're not sure it'll even work. Evidently, however, Heaven was not on board, and if something happened to Lilith that means the only ones left in Hell who would have any idea about the plan would be Luci, probably Charlie, and potentially Alastor depending on his connection to Lilith (which may also explain his arrival at the Hotel after ignoring his presence as an Overlord for seven years). I honestly don't think Luci would be content with just trying to make Hell better for the sinners living there, I think he'd try to help them find paradise, and realising he had personally failed helping Charlie try the same.

I absolutely love how they depicted Lucifer. Charlie and Lucifer's song absolutely blew me away with how much the voice actors embody these roles. They passionately put their heart and soul into said songs and vocals. I absolutely love how they depicted Lucifer as a caring and loving father who, albeit he has trouble connecting to his daughter and is a bit of a goofball, still loves Charlie no matter what and wants to believe in her vision. Still, he sees himself in her and doesn't want her crushed under Heaven's laws/ruthlessness. But despite how scared he is and how much of a failure he feels like, his daughter brings out his hope once again and sees his dream live on through her vision to redeem sinners, so of course, he'd be willing to do anything he can to support her and try and convince Heaven sinners can be redeemed. Jeremy Jordan and Erika Henningson both did a phenomenal job

I like the idea even tho sinners must be killed due to angels forcing it on him, he fought to keep hell born, his daughter safe. This song is so beautiful and it’s sad that Lucifer’s nihilism and broken spirit from Heaven contributed to him not being there for Charlie, fearing he’d make more mistakes with her or that her endeavors would just end in failure like his did.😢😢😢 If Lilith contributed to Charlie and Lucifer’s distance (based on what we see in the song of her taking Charlie away) maybe it was because she didn’t want his nihilistic views to rub off onto Charlie and so she’d instead value the lives of the Sinners.🤔

I don't think his fall was the reason of his depression ... i think it's because of the disappointement he had and has towards the sinners. I think Hell has he imagining it was like the Hazbin Hotel : a place where sinners could prove to be better with their free will BUT ... they made Hell a messy and chaotic circus

Good lord, that was beautiful! If you had told me this was from a Disney movie I would have believed you. I see a lot of people hating on this show for all its profanity, violence, and raunchiness, and as someone who's exhausted with all of that stuff, I get it: but if you let that drive you away, you're missing a beautiful emotional core.

I really loved this song, it was so sweet! It was clear that Lucifer truly loves his daughter and he’s so scared of her getting hurt. Charlie is 100% Lucifer’s pride and joy. Tho tbh I really hope we get a song like this between Charlie and Lilith. Mainly because it would be another heartfelt moment between a mother and a daughter.

A lot of people don't seem to focus on how it must hurt for Lucifer to hear from Charlie "You don't know that" after he says "Heaven never listens". He was the first fallen angel, the first to experience Heaven unwillingness to listen, too afraid of change and too focused on preserving the status quo. It must hurt so much to constantly remember you accidentally created Hell and made a way for evil to get into the word, while everything you wanted was to share the gift of freedom. Poor guy, Lucifer. However, his voice... God... He truly was the most beautiful angel...

Definitely my favorite song. Lucifer’s voice was angelic (pun intended) and reminds me of my own relationship with my father.
