Your video got me choked up. Thank you for being so honest and vulnerable. Much respect. Tri-Cities 70.3 was first one as well, and it’s hard to describe to amount of sacrifice it takes to finish. Keep us posted when you sign up for another one so we can cheer you on!

Great recap of the day! You prob don't remember me but I was right next to you and Philip in the transition area. I was #804. I was the one that said the Ironman people were coming to tell Philip to take the mirror off his bike before. Appreciate your vulnerability in sharing the struggles you had. Takes a real man to share that kinda stuff. You're still a badass for taking this on. Hope to see you out again for another shot at it! You got this!

What a great video. I was also there with 2 of my brothers to race as well. Our race wasn’t without our own struggles either and I too had to help my brother to ensure all three of us finished. Just signing up for this race requires courage and heart. Suiting up race morning and putting your feet on the start is massive. The amount of vulnerability at that time is insane. Most of all, Choosing to focus on your brother to help him finish his race was the biggest and best thing you could have done that day. I don’t think you lost. I think you came out stronger as an individual and know what you need to focus on moving forward, should you choose to sign up for next year. Even if you never race again, a big takeaway is that you’ve crossed over a line in your consciousness and there is no turning back. Regardless of any supreme challenge you undertake from here on out, remember how it felt to be vulnerable because it will make you stronger. If you choose to do it again and want some help with your swim, let me know. I’m in western Washington (near Bremerton) and started out as a very weak swimmer who learned to overcome fear and gain supreme confidence in the water. Thanks for the video.

I think we made almost the same video, brother. Grats to your brother, Pal. It's an incredible feeling crossing under that finishing arch. I hope you sign up for another one and work on areas that need work. You deserve that finisher medal and hat. It's only failure if you quit. Go get yours, man. You got this!

Congrats to both of you for taking on the challenge! Making it to the start line ready to go isn't an easy task. For me the event is a celebration of all the hard work, and not being able to fully realize the goal on that that is tough. I've had a roller coaster ride in my triathlon journey. From barely completing my first one in time, to storm cancelled during the event (make it back to t2 in 40sh mph wind gust/pouring rain, to 2 covid postponements (1 was about a week before and the other was the Wed before), to completing one cutting (cutting over 30mins off time, but diff course), to completing another shaving off another good 30mins (flat course, but wind) , to finding out about a health issue less than a week before doing another. And in that one, didn't complete the swim (which I firmly believe it was for the best I didn't continue with the swim having been shortened to just 500m due to 20+mph wind/white caps).. even if I had finished the swim would have been a long day in the wind/hills. But I've since had that issue addressed, and working my way back up to doing another half marathon in Jan. I enjoyed the area where the other event was and cheering on others as they were completing their race. And getting a smile out of someone that I knew who they were, but they didn't know me, by encouraging by name made the day. Learn from that, and keep at it! It still boggles my mind, doing each individual distance, much less all one after the other.
