Ukraine continues to hit Russian Russia's oil and gas infrastructure in order to destroy the enemy's economy. More than two-thirds of the 30 largest oil refineries
of Russia came under aattack of Ukraine in a month, according to Welt.
The implementation of this plan lasted for 1 year and 4 months and continues even now. According to the publication, no more than 48 hours pass between the release of the drone and the impact.
The latest attack on Gazprom's Astrakhan gas processing plant has disabled processing facilities, with repair and downtime losses already estimated at millions of dollars. "Everything is bad with the installation - for now it will be at least three months. It will become clearer later," one of Reuters' sources said.
Recently, Ukrainian drones struck the Astrakhan gas processing plant , which produces gasoline, diesel fuel and sulfur for explosives . According to Reuters , the attack caused a fire at a stable condensate processing unit , which led to the plant’s shutdown. A full overhaul of the plant will take at least three months, and industry sources say the launch could be delayed until July.
Since the beginning of the year, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have attacked Russian oil refineries with drones at least 7 times : January 31 - Volgograd region January 29 - two strikes on oil refineries in Nizhny Novgorod region January 24 and 26 - Ryazan Oil Refinery January 11 - attack on oil refinery in Tatarstan In 2024, drone strikes on Russian refineries triggered the industry's biggest crisis in 12 years . According to Reuters , the damage and downtime in 2023 will result in: Oil refining volumes fell to 267 million tons - a 12-year low Oil product exports fell by 9% to 62 million tons Oil refineries lost 41.1 million tons of refining capacity (13%) The blows continue and the losses mount Russia is already struggling to repair damaged refineries as attacks continue and sanctions make it difficult to supply needed technology. Meanwhile, billions in losses are mounting every day , and Russia's oil industry is already facing a shortage of refining capacity. Ukraine, in turn, is systematically destroying Russia's oil infrastructure , turning critical facilities into ruins and making the war increasingly costly for the Kremlin. While Russian authorities are trying to hide the real consequences of the attacks, the country's economy is already feeling the effects.
