I sent the company that makes the pack seat and told them they should sponsor you because you are the sole reason I ordered one.

Hey Robert…….I’m your age… been bow hunting since I was 13……..I haven’t ground hunted in maybe 35 years. You inspired me to try it. Well I had deer walking all around me maybe 12-15 yards. A monster 8 walked right past me ….got a shot hit a damn sapling missed!…….but I was amazed how the deer as you say looked right though me. I think the deer have been condition to look up for danger since every one hunts from tree stands. Now I’m hooked on ground hunting.

Hey Robert you could carry Christmas garland for brushing in around in behind or in front of your seat - ambush area. Rather than walk around near your setup putting more scent around your ambush area. This way you said you carried a pack,so pull garland out of your pack and brush in around you then sit & wait. This should work i remember the Wensel brothers talking about garland & using it. They said they found it on sale at Walmart after Christmas.

Hey Robert I hunted yesterday with my kill suit I set up on a old fence row looking over a a big oak flat. Fence row was covered with green briar. I sat down in them and thought I was gonna have to call fire department to bring the jaws of life to come pull me and that suit out of that fence row. Them green briars had me and wouldn’t turn me loose lol 😂

I’ve shot traditional pretty much all my life but this year has been the first year I’ve tried hunting with my long bow. You’ve been a big help and I appreciate your videos!

Gonna ground hunt tomorrow. Ive done it in the past and have busted everytime ive been on deer. The most important thing i learned and is probably the hardest skill for me to master is staying completely still. Staying still for a couple hours is hard but you have to because them deer will spot you faster on the ground than you will spot them.

Robert, on the coaster idea. A couple rubber furniture coasters work good and they have a lip that keeps them in place under the legs. 🏹😎

I have a small cloth bag that I am using for the tennis balls. It has a small strap with buckle. It came with a climber that I bought some years ago. However, I do like Thad's idea of the plywood coasters. I am waiting on my 3d sapper kill suit to replace the string type ghillie that I have been using. Thanks for recommending the Kill Suit..

I would keep the tennis ball on the seat that have been painted to not stand out on the seat all the time but also with even better protection from going nasty by using a mat finish after the paint or get the coasters attached to it for good. I also would think about with the Walmart chair for my area to get the tan like color of these, so I do not have to paint it up as much for where I live in South Dakota.

You can use zip ties also or camo string to pull saplings over to make ground blinds, tie them off to something like a tree or a log most anything will work, then when you leave cut the strings and ties and know one will ever know you were there. Or you can leave it and hunt it Time after time. It works great.

I used to carry a roll of trotline with me for creating a blind with branches or whatever hanging or leaning against it. just tied one end to a tree or whatever and the other end as well to another tree. you can make it as high as you want, all up to you as well as sparse or thick as you want, it is very quick and you can leave it there as long as you like or simply remove the branches and no one will know why it is there. you can even tie small loops across the length of the string to hang stuff from. I used the brown trotline, harder to see. you have your clippers or pruning shears with you anyways. I had a couple places where I would go in and dig a couple or more holes about 10-12 inches deep but fairly small in diameter to stick freshly cut small bushy trees like a cedar into upright to create blind spots to draw or move when the deer's head was behind them. Who cares if they turn brown, have gotten two years use out of some. in some cases, I used an old lining bar to create the holes. also did this for cover behind me and even beside me, just back a little bit.

I use the walmart metal chair but I get the black one so I don't have to paint as much 😜. I also drill a 1/2 inch hole near the top of the backrest so I can run a strap to the leg supports and carry it across my back.

I used a foam on my Waldrop seat also but have noticed if I also use a thick foam seat pad, it will raise the back of your legs and the ba r will not dig into your legs as much

for under the front legs...simply cut a STRIP of plywood about 4 inches wide that goes the length of the fron tlegs....AND I look for those cheap molded green plastic patio chairs for a ground blind ...VERY comfortable-they allow you to sit longer period without moving....

Hey brother Robert I know that I'm a bit late watching and commenting on this video but one thing I have found that serves me well is setting back off your cover. Rather than getting right up on your cover, set back a few feet ( long as it doesn't leave you exposed on sides). I like spots where I have holes in the brush to shoot through for that reason. It is just like "Depth of Field" in photography and videography. The focus is more on your what's between you and the animal and less on you because you are beyond that cover. Hope that made sense. God bless!

I want to try this badly but am a bit perplexed on how to sit still enough (bad to fidget, being 20 feet up a tree helps) and it also seems difficult to brush in and hide with a 68” longbow without limiting yourself to exactly one narrow shooting lane. My deer are wise butts and are never on the trails as expected, lol.

I hunt South ga public land. There are folks in the woods hunting something 8 months a year. Our deer are very skittish as well. I shoot a 66" Hill bow most of the time but using. 64" Selfbow right now. I will admit it is tougher but the only draw back for me is as you said getting spotted moving. Heart pumping hunting though! Good luck!

I’ve been unable to get on hogs this year so far. The water is much lower than it was this spring when I found a bunch. Do you think it’s the low water level that lets them move way further into the swamp or the squirrel hunters firing shotguns which has made them all scarce?
