I've also got some of those led taillights on my r50 mini. It makes such a big difference to the back end of the car. Keep the videos coming 👍

Appreciate you taking the time to show us all you are doing to the R50, it's all interesting to follow.

Good to see another R50 lover. I also have a R50 (bought it new in 2005) and love it more with each year. Recently also upgraded to LED lights... man, it was a bit of a fiddle getting the capacitors sorted before everything worked properly! I used LED bulbs in the OEM housings for the number plate, and just added a bit of clear silicone to seal them better. Keep up the good videos!

that sounds great, my led number plates have just died so i will be replacing them with some new ones!

Awesome video! Would love to know what type of rear bumper that is, need a new one for my r50 and that bumper looks aggressive while keeping the one exhaust exit

Hey! Big warning about those led taillights, if your car did not had them at first, there is a high chance you are gonna fry your body control Unit BCU. Let me explain. Since the normal bulbs needs like 20-22W thats the energy its sent there by the BCU, now the led taillights need only 10-12W to work and thats what they are gonna use, since there is 10-12W of power the BCU is getting back, it gets shor-circuited and starts sending more power to all the modules, ECU, ABS etc, you will probably end up with error codes for no reason, and in the end your BCU will die with no warning. If you wanna keep the taillights you need to recode the BCU to send less power to the taillights, a dealer can do that for you. I hope i could help. And im being serious, it happened to me and to people i know. And its this problem i described

Would running an inline resistor solve that issue? Im planning on swapping my current taillights out for LEDs on my r50, and in the past most of the LED/HID kits I've bought for various vehicles have built in flashers/resistors. This is my first time working on a mini though so I don't know how much differently it might respond to mods compared to others I'm used to

@@crazymayne69 you could try that! Im not an expert on how electrical systems work but in theory if the taillights need 20-22W and the led ones only 12W you coul add a resistor that made 12W go through while 22W are being consumed in the line, best advice i can give you is to check how much power your taillights use right now, then measure led ones and see the difference that you need to fulfill with a resistor. I think i explained myself haha
