Scenes like this brings good memories to when I was in my childhood. Especially seeing the briquette trains plus B class hauled passenger trains, even when some B classes were sold to West Coast Rail

6 B Class locos were sold to WCR. They were B61, B64, B65, B75, B76, & B80.

Best colour scheme v/line ever had. The railway was so much better when it was entirely state owned.

Great stuff. 1990 was not a good year for washing locomotives though.

2:33 That's S301, not S300 actually if you look at the number plate on either side on the front of the leading S Class.

Wonder what happened to B65's cast iron side "B65" plates? Why do Victorian country passenger diesel hauled trains have a louvre van attached? Still doing this in 2020, maybe parcels? NSW railways haven't handled parcels for years. Thanks John for yet another professional presentation from your archive treasure chest! Bring on the Tait and Harris trains to top it all off. Dave

V/Line in the early 90s ran D vans carrying parcels and other small freight. After that most D vans were withdrawn from service. These days locomotive hauled trains sometimes run PH vans, these are power generated vans and used to be used more commonly on the shorter distance passenger trains when a V/Line N or P class wasn't present ie. A class hauled

The vans were also great for bike riders going riding in the country as you could put the bikes in the van. The Velocity units do not have so much space for bikes at a time when there are plenty of Railtrails reachable by train.

As a VR fan I can see where your coming from. Though I do like the V/ on the fronts of locos. The introduction of grey was a good idea instead of all orange.
