Interestingly, I pronounce words more like Vicki, rather than Jay. I have had quite a number of British friends over the years and spent time in the UK as a kid, as an Army Brat and my Dad was stationed in the UK for a few years, formative years it seems. While I can't say that I'm a complete Anglophile, I have had a tendency to purchase British automobiles as a young man. MGs and Triumphs, though my very first car was a rather old Mercedes Benz. I did love my British cars though, especially my Triumph TR-4. The one British sports car that got away was the Lotus Europa. I nearly bought one, but it slipped through my fingers. Oh, sorry, I am a serious petrolhead, in case you hadn't noticed. So, thanks, this was another cute video, though I prefer the ones that deal more with British/American English and the differences therein.
@SimpleEnglishVideos4 жыл бұрын
Great cars, KRM. They were all the rage when I was a freshman in College many years ago. (This is Jay writing back to you.) But they were a bit scary too. I remember once riding into Manhattan from Queens through the Queens-Midtown tunnel in an MG midget. It was a terrifying experience. Thanks for watching our video.
@kiasax24 жыл бұрын
@@SimpleEnglishVideos , I recall driving an MG Midget on a test drive while a high school kid. I loved the car, but being over 6' already, it was too small for me. So, years later when I found the TR-4 and it fit me, I was thrilled. By the way, very kind of you to answer this comment. So, many thanks for that kindness, Jay!

A few words I personally have known for ESL speakers; Fascination, Quagmire, lodge. Tricky differences like "drought" and "draught" and then "draft". Live vs live. Read vs read and lead vs lead. Just for fun; fish=singular, fish=plural, and fishes=plural and when to properly use them.
