He just about sang me into a shout! David needs recognition for the shape, sound and poise of those young men! This is a TRUE example of 100 years of excellence. Bravo Morehouse College Glee Club!

I agree! David Morrow was there with Dr. William P. Whalum when I attended in 1984. He was my music appreciation instructor. Great guy.

Wonderful song. For all of you youngins that came across this song on Hell On Wheels, this is the opening title song for Spike Lee's classsic 1988 film "School Daze". As powerful now as it was when I first heard it 25 years ago.

I've always loved the versatility of Morehouse Glee Club Soloist, everyone did not always have to have the Big Operatic voice, they just had to know what they were singing about and that's what I believe keeps this ensemble so unique throughout each year its members truly believe in what they are singing.

This arrangement is awesome. Who is the composer? They have done a masterful job interpreting it....and what more can be said about the lead vocalist......simply wonderful.
@hopefulagnostic3367 жыл бұрын
There's no known composer specifically, because it's a traditional spiritual, probably developed from the line-singing tradition/call and response during slavery in the United States. This arrangement was done by Uzee Brown, Jr. though.

There is INDEED a white Preacher on the podium who is NOT Dr. Massey. But if you describe a light skinned Black person as "Fair Skinned" what does that mean. Fair is not a color; it's a condition. So, as a Dark Skinned person, am I to be considered UNfair?
