I have been fishing for a very VERY long time, and I will always thoroughly enjoy it. It's exciting, it's challenging, and it get's me all jacked up, but.. There is a new seasonal addiction in town. Hunting down and eating morel mushrooms. Thanks to some help fro some good buds, I was able to find some morels all on my own, and some nice ones to boot.. Is that a saying? I don't know. All I know is if you haven't tried morel mushroom hunting, you should. It's more exciting than it seems.

@@PigPatrolTV One of my favorite wild mushrooms is called "chicken of the woods," (from the genus Laetiporus) You guessed it, tastes like chicken. Actually the mushroom is rather bland but has the firm chewy texture of chicken and tastes like whatever you use for seasoning.

Just make sure to cook them longer than 15 min. If not, you can get sick & as of lately, you can die if not cooked long enough! I love morels! My 1st looked just like your 1st & didn't eat it because I found it in a customers lawn! You hit the mother load & of the quality kind! PLEASE!!! Just cook them on a medium heat in butter for at least 10 min! Please Josh! Cook em long but don't burn them.

The mushroom is the fruit , the mycellium/root system lives entirely underground and only send up shrooms when soil temps reach a certain temp
@tylerwatson3651
@tylerwatson3651 9 ай бұрын
Yes, but a lot more variables. The mycelium is vast and yes underground and I guess the "root" of the fungi. To "fruit" and get a shroom it takes soil temp, air temp, moisture content, humidity in the air, sunlight...when everything is right we get shrooms

If you want morels year 'round, gather up a bunch and either freeze'em or dehydrate them! Dehydrating really intensifies their flavor! And if mushroom Jebus didn't already tell you, just watch put for false morels when foraging... They aren't really hollow and have a spongy stem on them! Great find! Hopefully I'll find some in my yard this year!

Love morels, got a nice batch already, going out tomorrow for a last hunt. Look for a tree so dead the bark is falling off, dead elm and dead ash, sycamores sometimes have them. The thought is you tear up the actual plant when you pull them up.(why they grow in a line and more WILL grow back if you pinch them.) You found a great patch there! Remember that spot next year.
