One of the greatest bands of the 70s. Classic. Lovely acoustic 12-string and electric guitar blending.

Boston was a music project by an engineer who had a vision for how a band should sound. He wrote the music, played most of the instruments, set up a studio at his house and personally recorded everything, and found a singer with the most amazing clear voice you could imagine. The rest is history
@alanmacification2 жыл бұрын
The marketing of the " band " was part of the genius. There was the usual radio hype in advance of the tour with plenty of airplay. At the show, about 10% of the audience were shills acting like they had been following the ' band ' around Boston for years. And the people around didn't want to appear ignorant so they would just join in.

It is impossible to overstate the August 1976 musical Earthquake that was the release of the debut album by Boston. A half dozen songs that got nearly constant air play for the next 12 months. Every song on the album got significant airplay and that is no exaggeration. This was the song that licked things off. Terrific reaction Mo. You are going to like Boston. Lead singer Brad Delp is one of the greatest rock singers ever. Take care Luv, RNB

Saw them in concert at the Sun Dome in Tampa, FL. in 1991. What a crowd. While waiting for the concert to start. We saw a man with greying hair in his' 50's wearing a Tux. His date was a stunning blonde in a light blue floor length evening gown with a tiara, diamond earrings/necklace and white elbow length gloves. 10 feet behind them, in walked a 30's women in a black bustier, leather short shorts, fishnet stockings, thigh-high boots and black leather gloves. In her hand was a silver chained dog leash. This leash was attach to the man she was leading in. He was wearing black combat boots, black leather pants, a black leather vest (no shirt), spiked leather dog collar and a full head black leather mask! I told my friends "This Concert just went to the next level"!! It was awesome! I never saw so many panties thrown onto the stage!!

Hi Mo, the song comes from one of the best debut albums in the history of rock music. Tom Scholz, the band's founder, worked on this very unique guitar sound for a long time. Lead singer Brad Delp was one of the best. Unfortunately, he died much too early, he suffered from depression and committed suicide. This is all the sadder because the people who knew him, described Brad as one of the nicest guys they ever met. But at least: his music lives on. Take care

This is a music video, it is not live. It was first shown on Don Kirshners rock concert in 1974 which was aired every sat night at 11:00 pm. I was an avid viewer and I was 13 yrs old when this album came out. It blew the world away! It sold one million copies in one month! To date, this album has sold a billion copies world wide. No other band has ever sold that much. The singer Brad Delp was so overwhelmed by the sudden fame that he could not handle it. He committed Suicide to escape the pressure. This album was recorded in the guitar players basement using 16 track tape. No one in the band ever expected it to take off so fast. There is no disaster like success if you are not ready for it. It cost one life and he will be greatly missed!!!!

Not so much a comment on your reaction to this song...although it is nice; but a comment on your obvious love of music. I think you get it...and, more so, you let it get you. The opening and closing words of this song are so true: "I looked out this morning and the sun was gone Turned on some music to start my day I lost myself in a familiar song I closed my eyes and I slipped away It's more than a feeling When I hear that old song they used to play I begin dreaming... ... When I'm tired and thinking cold I hide in my music, forget the day And dream of..." The first reaction of yours I saw was to the Alchemy version of Dire Straits Sultans of Swing. Like many people who commented, I was struck by how you let the song into your heart...and soul. And one person even pick a time (around the 6:30 point) where you appeared to be completely drawn into the music...and musicianship...of the song. From that point through its end your amazing smile never really left your face. And, more to the point, it was obvious that the amazement and sheer joy of participating with a truly "beautiful" song was stirring tears to your eyes! As outstanding beauty should impact a person. Seeing your reaction to that song makes me hope you are as sensitive ("as beautiful on the inside"...) and caring individual as you appear to be. Thank you for your posts. If you don't mind, I'll post some other comments about songs and artists that may elicit similar responses and overall reactions for you.

This video had the studio soundtrack laid over it . Truth is that they couldn't reproduce the sound in a live performance ,bcuz all the vocal harmonies were Brad Delp layered for the album , and they bombed on tour since he couldn't harmonize with himself . The critics were way tougher on this band when other bands were staggering through and got no slam for showing up on stage wasted .

I've loved Boston for 40+ years. I even lived in Massachusetts for 8 years. :-) From Wikipedia: Tom Scholz is an MIT-trained engineer who designed and built his own recording studio in an apartment basement in the early 70s. A rock fan throughout his teen years, Scholz began writing songs while earning his master's degree at MIT. The first Boston album was mostly recorded in his basement studio, mostly using devices he designed and invented.
