You play every note just how it says on paper, I just dont feel anything. There is no passion

A bit harsh but I think in a way you're right. If one is performing, then memorise the music and actually PERFORM it! Look at each other, look at your audience, move to the music; don't just sit there, eyes down, reading the dots. Reading manuscript should be part of the learning stage and not the final (performance) stage. Only when a piece is memorised and internalised is it really known and then you can perform it to the best of your ability. Performance should go beyond reproducing the notes on the page and actually communicate something to the listener..

@@JF-zv4oc I agree with your statements here, don't get me wrong, but memorizing a piece in a duo is really hard, since you need to know the exact rhythm and remember what's ahead of what you're playing because if you miss or fail a note in a solo you can just continue but in a duo its much harder because if a single person fails a bit the other person is then completely thrown off and becomes a mess, and usually in concerts and guitar competitions a slo player must memorize it while duos and more can read off the notes just because it is really hard.

@@JF-zv4oc I feel that you can perform a piece very well without memorization. In fact on most instruments its common practice to play from sheet music. Especially music for multiple instruments.
