Thanks Mr Moreno. Glad to have found yr channel. Excellent comprehensive teaching. Cough - if I may - as someone who had bad footwork, please emphasise "don't forget your balance & remember which foot yr putting yr weight on & why OR which foot your weight should be on & how you transfer the weight.

Hey bro could you do a video of how to stay composed in boxing and how to get quicker reaction times.
@estevanalameda5852
@estevanalameda5852 5 жыл бұрын
Stay relaxed don't tense up and clench. Always be moving its easier to slip punches if you are already moving slightly rather than going from standing still to suddenly moving. As far as reaction times it's just sheer repeating the same thing over and over again but start slowly use the mirror perfect your technique start slow and really focus on footwork and focus on fluidity of movement ie when you throw a punch focus on punch fulling extending then pulling it back as fast as possible and as soon as it comes back relax it again then just keep repeating that's what builds speed and fluidity is just exploding the punch then pulling it back just as fast as it came out then relaxing then work on throwing the punch again then relax double up triple up quadruple up remember to focus on the relaxing part that build the fluidity you want.
@estevanalameda5852
@estevanalameda5852 5 жыл бұрын
As far as being composed that's all sparring just getting comfortable with punches being thrown at you. Only way you are gonna build that confidence is just sparring. Just stay relaxed get comfortable with seeing the punches rolling them. There's a lot of things that go into building composer just confidence in your own skills focus on moving first is what I first did focus on seeing the punches and moving remember you don't want to move to far out of the way just make them miss by an inch. Once you are comfortable moving around in the ring and having punches thrown at you and making them miss by an inch that's when you slowly get comfortable with letting your hand go after making them miss. I'd say if you are able to learn how to wrestle. Wrestling will give you major confidence and teach you so much about spacing and pummeling and controlling distance which transferred over to boxing you'll be comfortable being close to your opponent and when you are in those close exchanges you'll be able to throw and land punches without having to see your target.

Slipping to the inside after opponents right hand is very dangerous against experienced fighters since you are vulnerable to their left hook / uppercut. Its usually better to slip on the outside against the right hand because you are in a less dangerous position to get counterpunched

That stance isnt so good for the range you guys are at. I prefer a sort of combination between what you showed as "high guard" and a peekaboo guard. Basically its just a really tight and high guard, maximum protection for my face/head, or for my body if I ever need to move my guard downwards to defend against body hooks or kicks to my body. Ive been doing Muay thai for 2 years now and Ive been relying on that stance and building it this whole time basically. When I spar I would not ever engage with a lowered lead hand at punching range, even the tail end of jab range. I might be able to catch it but theres gonna be times when I cant move in time and get popped if I used that philly shell type of guard at that short of a range. But to each his own. Also I have to block(and throw) roundhouse kicks, teeps/straight kicks, knee strikes, clinch, and also punch as well as use my footwork and defend against all of the above. Muay thai has less room for error also, due to the kicks and knees. Especially the kicks. Thats part of the reason, that and because its easier to block punching combos to the head, with the high guard. I recommend it to anyone. Use a super tight high guard, it offers both EXCELLENT defense and deflection, and also it loads up your arms to throw your hardest and fastest shots when you do what I suggested with your guard.Both fists at eye level(and right hand slightly above the eye in some cases) so all the soft parts of your face are protected against strikes, but you can still see and still fight and still bring that guard higher if need be, and like I said your punches are gonna be loaded up from doing this. Be sure to get that hip rotation in there and to perfect your technique with ALL your punches(and kicks). And your covering up/blocking/deflecting too. Have someone throw punches at you with gloves on and use your guard to stop the punches.

switch between going to the body and the head. If you land some good body shots throw a feint to the body and power shot to the head. If you land some head shots throw a feint to the head and throw a body shot to the solar plexis or liver.

You probably train with a coach who holds back on teaching you techniques or waits 5 years to teach something new . And teaches the same basic stuff for years while charging the same monthly tuition. Seriously, you are underestimating the average viewer/student.

High guard/peekaboo is what beginners use. And should be using. It offer a high degree of safety and reliability because you can passively block most shots coming at your guard with minimal effort, or even without doing a thing. Its also great for offense. And its better for all combat sports. Like muay thai, which has kicks; a high guard is what you wanna use in muay thai, or MMA. Same with Boxing if you arent an extremely experienced professional. I have trained 2 years and I use a guard I came up with myself(kinda); its a combination of the high guard with the peekaboo. That, or the high guard or peekaboo, are what beginner fighters should be using, not the philly shell. Still keep making the videos man I like em.
