The new ball flights and realism with miss hits and how the wind combined with spin especially on miss hits plays now. Feels way more realistic. As much as it hurts to top a tee shot or duff a pitch also really digging the realism of shanking a shot in the new game. Not much fun when it happens in the moment but hey that's real golf. I setup a range for practice in the course designer basically just a teeing area with one large green down range as it allows me to place markers distanced across the green to measure how much the wind is effecting. Also you can easily adjust wind direction and speed for quick testing for anyone who this might help with their own tinkering. Cheers to all and great video!

This is extremely useful because I never really understood especially the right stick. It is rather counter-intuitive as the negative sign is MORE spin and the left stick down makes the loft HIGHER, so it seems backwards to me. But now I know how to loft the ball when flop shot is unavailable to me. What's frustrating is that even when flop shot is available, I can't move the aiming any closer than 20 feet beyond the hole, it's extremely particular about what type of shots it will allow and what distance is available. Knowing how to shape may help me because often if I'm at the edge of the green, only chip is available but if I choose flop it will go way too far and I can't move the distance back.

Isn’t left stick spin and right stick is loft(trajectory)? Or is Xbox different?

pretty sure you have it backwards. they both affect both things but the ball is where/ how you hit on the ball and the meter is club face angle. if you hit with more angle it can decrease and increase spin but you can also get good backspin from just adjusting the ball hit lower

I agree, but I took the +/- meter to mean where you place the ball on your stance. + being toward front foot, - being the back.

Thanks for the tutorial(s). Day 3 getting orientated to game. Practice Range Spin Issue... Distance not changing w/full spin. Lob Wedge punch. Press hold controller LB spin box appears. Right stick & apply full back spin. Releasing LB & spin box disappears. No distance change no matter the amount of spin applied. What's missing? ~ Thanks ~

daft question but in older PGA's you could adjust spin in the air. Is this not a feature anymore?

R- = backspin R+ = topspin R- is ADDING loft (Opening the club face allowing it to hit under the ball R+ is SUBTRACTING loft (closing the clubface allowing it to hit more of the top of the ball ) Thanks for showing good examples of this 👍

One other question to make sure, if you want to cut the wind you draw/fade INTO the wind? Doesn't hitting it lower help too? So I could hit minimum loft with high spin to compensate the fact that lower shots will roll more.

Yep, either will work, Fade/Draw into wind will cut the effects of the wind down but hitting it low and under the wind has the same type of effect as the ball is in the air for less time which makes it, so wind won't hit as much. Fade/Draw allows you to keep more distance though, but it just depends on the shot you need to make.

I am playing with a trackball mouse. I had swing timing off and can play well. I want to play with swing timing on but it just does not work well with a trackball mouse. Any advice beyond "just use a xbox or playstation controller". I have a good controller but can't seem to make a good swing. I have been a PC gamer with mouse and keyboard for 25 years. By the way great video.

I am really having a difficult time with splash shots out of green side bunkers. I am chipping rather than splashing. They have made this much more difficult than 2k21. Also, I playing on a PS4. Also, it seems like the ball rolls so much faster on the greens in 2k23. Take care.

I would say that IRL, there is no straight shot. All shots have sidespin in one way or another. So learning how to shape shots will be more beneficial to your game
