Kionna is legendary to me. She basically had to start the squad over with only a few vets during a global pandemic. Her short season was such a breath of fresh air. She was old school and innovative at the same time. I watch her season as captain every week. 💙

We kept telling people to open their eyes and they would not do it, they couldn’t see it for her but she made the eat their words every time.

This list is not surprising AT ALL. I already knew Charlotte was your number 1 of course! Looking at the older videos made me miss the bigger squads. Shankettas and Charlotte Era was straight buck or die. I miss those field shows. The remaining of your list follows the traditional classic style that you love plus the new innovations. After this break down , my list is probably similar. I can honestly say the Wow factor for me was CIALAH. Everyone else’s captain era gave what I knew it was going to give but Cialah, to be number 5 and her season literally just finished says a lot. I’ve said it a million times, Cialah was that make a believer out of you captain. From 19 to this year, I wouldn’t have saw it at all.

@@trentjohnson3302 someone needs to release footage from the SBOTS archives (1998-2004). These new school fans just don’t understand how pivotal those years were. Afrachanna, Aquita, Nikela, & Nadia each brought something special to the Prancing J-Settes style. Afrachanna created THEE foundation for a lot of what we still see now. Everyone who came after her added their own flare on top of it.

@@brandonb.4517 the synchronization with her squads was on 100,000%. I can’t recall anyone looking out of place; and their collective form was top notch. Nikela will forever be one of my top 5 captains. That’s the kind of form and precision I wanna see consistently. From the start of the season to the end. I watch videos from Nikela’s era very often. She isn’t highlighted enough. If for any reason Chloe would have to step away, I would want her to be the next director. She still got it and is clean to this day.

To my understanding this is a tight sisterhood, so getting tips and advice might not be hard to get. Those years were the most I went to JSU games but my family never sat near the band and always on the home side. So I could always hear but never see 😤

This list was tea! I will say if Kionna had a full season she would have been top 5 easily. Swap dom and Morgan J maybe. I would also swap Ketta and Charlotte. They are neck and neck. I honestly would still put Kionna over KG, simply on form and execution alone.

Honestly out of all the captains that served after Dr. Butler; Ketta’s presence & creativity is the only one that comes close to Dr. Butler imo. Ketta was the only one bold enough to challenge herself with Swoop. I don’t think these new school J-Settes would even try to after her. Her routines still put squads to REST over a decade later.

I’m gonna have to go back and rewatch her reign I always felt she got captain by default it seemed like they didn’t have a captain until the season started that year. Either way I respect it since your the only one who does these type of videos and I appreciate it. Shanketta is my number one she laid the foundation for charlottes season just my personal opinion. I’m gonna also say Kionna did more in her very short season than amber did with her full season. Kenjie led one game and it was more exciting than the entire season. I think at least half of her era was choreo from MJ’s era. Tierra’s originals are “Insane”, “Get Up”, “Poison”, and “Lights, Camera, Action (Honda botb).” I think “Slave to the Rhythm” was collaborative between MJ, Tierra, & Shannon. Tierra said in her interview that MJ helped her and Shannon put it together because they were up for the captain spot. Tierra excuted the routine better so she got it.
