at this point i think it's probably a good thing we didn't get another mothership palette this year. the excitement for the brand is pretty much gone by now and rather than coming out with something that is as disappointing to many as the last big mothership palette, i very much prefer pml to take their time to reinvent themselves and hopefully come back with something that is actually well thought out and in terms of quality at least back to former standards. thanks for your honest review!

I don’t know what PML is doing anymore. I used to collect EVERYTHING she released. But I’ve been underwhelmed and disappointed for years now. She is releasing the same thing over and over. The “luxury” associated with the brand is gone. If I have to see another pinky/purple toned palette I’m gonna lose my mind. The last few releases have been such massive disappointments. I won’t buy another thing from the brand unless I see major change. I miss the originality of the first 5 motherships. They were exciting and creative. The brand has lost its appeal for me. And from the many people I speak to, I know I’m not alone. The cheap packaging, the smaller quantity of shadows…they’ve lost their point of difference. But the brand doesn’t appear to care, they seem oblivious to their customers. Do better PML.

I’m not surprised, a year or so ago I heard someone say that she’s not as involved in the company anymore. Idk. Honestly, unlike CT whose makeup has always been the same repackaged ideas, the progression of PMG makes me think that the creative design and formulation team isn’t the same original crew, or that enough of the big funders are pushing a more simplified agenda to make profit.

The one thing Ulta is really good for! You can rack those points up! I saved up $1500 before! Gotta make sure to activate 5x points! Oh.. And their little random 30 pc.samples with bag! LOL 😂 Gotta love it

I think PML built lots of hype at first, and now they’re trying to get the average consumer to believe that they’re “accessible,” while still trying to maintain that illusion of rarity/exclusivity. So their launches HAVE to be boring in order to make more money, because that average buyer doesn’t want avant-garde color stories and extraordinary formulas. They want pinks, browns, MAYBE purples, and a glitter or two for special occasions (which honestly for the regular person are rare.)

PMG Labs needs to figure things out. I honestly think they need to divide the brand into luxury & more affordable. They keep lowering their quality and were on sale ALL THE TIME last year. People are not going to pay luxury prices with a brand that has cheap packaging & mixed reviews. They delete comments and don't listen to customers. All they want to do is the same colors over and over. They could have really redeemed themselves if they made a unique mothership with shades they dont have 20x over again. 😩

I love this pallet so much. The big one is nice. I use all the most of the colors the sliver I used today. I used the gold one when I was wearing the cheetah shirt. I use the orchid purple all the time when I wear my black shirts. ❤😊 it looks good on my eyes. 😊❤

Some people love the flaky shades. I know one KZbinr who always commented about the texture being a good thing, mostly when reviewing Indie shadows. I personally prefer the smoother shimmers and want different mattes. There are 6 shades in the Mega that I want but not the rest as I have the Motherships. But I do love the creamy lighter shimmers.

I've never purchased any of these big PMG holiday palettes. I've been waiting for an actual color story, but I feel like every year it's just a bunch of random shimmer shades thrown together with pink/mauve/rose mattes. Like, yes, you can make a pretty eye look, but I feel like they lack cohesion. I'm so uninspired by these.

I was so bummed I bought the green gold duo. It wouldn’t adhere to lid even with glitter adhesive more than an hour. The green particularly was such an upset. I’m praying she does a green focused mothership palette with the quality I love.

Pat mcgrath has a glitter wand to help her glitters adhere. I use it with a lot of different brand eyeshadows that have fall out. It doesnt pick up make up so u can add it in the middle of your eyeshadow look right before u add the glittery shades.

I am definiely in the minority because I prefer the cardboard packaging because they can be recycled unlike plastics that stay with us forever. I do appreciate your breakdown of the shades. It lets me know to expect topper shades and to expect to use glitter blue or spray my brush when it comes to using the shimmers.

I used to like the quints in previous Xmas collections, and still love their quality. This year the only palette that i find interesting is the mega one, but I'll wait for sales, not in a rush and then decide. I grabbed the Mario one (LOVE IT) and will purchase the ND Roxa (maybe, need to see it live) when its available in Sephora EU end of October.

Lunar luxury is also a repeat shade from the celestial nirvana bronze bliss quint, which was one of the very first. Im pretty sure I recognised other repeats but I don't feel very well at the moment so research shall have to wait 😂

Thank you for the review Morgan, but I can tell the PML excitement is gone and it makes me sad that the brand lost its spark. Something is definitely amiss if they skipped on launching what used to be one of the most anticipated palettes of the year. Her motherships, although repetitive at times, have always given me the most gorgeous looks. It always feels extra special when I use them! I hope 2025 will be better, but I doubt it. 😢

Am I correct to assume that whatever made that one so special would also apply to the astral noir? I don't care for gold (and I have plenty in few pat palettes I have) but that black... Astral Noir. I own 1 quad by Pat McGrath Labs. The Devine Rose in Eternal Eden and love it. I would'nt pay full price it is the only one I own and feel that is enough.. I got it on Boxycharm by Ipsy. It cost like 25$. I simply love it. The only gripe I have is packaging. She uses the generic black palette heavy with gold Pat McGrath name. The box has the design. It is irritating. It has roses in pink all over. I just did a look because I miss my kitty and broke down on my knees, crying so hard. Swollen eyes and my makeup hiding it well. 😂 ❤😊

I saw another reviewer say that her old palettes were 18 pan so we lost 3 shades than normal compared to this year. I’m not really the biggest fan of Pat McGrath. I feel underwhelmed with her releases. In my opinion, this video is all more reason for me not to buy it. Even the sparkle shades look chunky and not smooth. I feel like it wouldn’t be good for mature eyelids either

As much as we pay for this makeup they should be making the packaging nice too. Like the Hourglass face palette is nice and the ysl eyeshadow quads are cute but those could be metal too. I think Pat McGrath packaging is cheap and the design is tacky (except for the motherships)

There is no way Pat Mcgrath is still involved in this brand. I wouldn't be surprised if she sold it or stepped down. It's so evident that this is the case. So unfortunate that a once creative and quality brand is going downhill. I will continue using my old motherships. I have no desire to purchase anything new from her and haven't for a long time now.

honestly for the price tag, the mega palette doesnt look luxurious on the eyes in the slightest… i feel like “not bad” or “okay” really just isnt enough considering how much you’re spending on the brand, and if you have to try really hard to love the palette or make it look good for you then it really isnt worth the $ 😕 PML has definitely lost their touch over the years imo

I just got the 5-Pan in Purple and I thought is a me problem, that these shades not wanted to stick (at least the shimmery ones) but now that you mentioned it … still I love the colours and will try it again with a glitter glue. And thanks for the inspiration with that dark navy-teal kind of shade. I could not come up with what to do with this one. But now I have to recreate you eye look 😍. In that big palette I was just interested in that stunning light silvery-purple shade but I think in previous 5-pans from last year there is a similar one 🤷🏻‍♀️ or hopefully next year it will make it in another quint 🤞.
