UNC Chapel Hill is a good school academically. My sister (and other people that I know went there/go there). My sister (and my brother and I) got accepted. All three of us are DACA recipients meaning we came here from another county as young children. Even though my brother and I got in we didn’t attend. It was just too expensive... and since we are DACA recipients we dont really have any chance of financial aid AND scholarships (a lot require you to be us resident/citizen). My sister went for one year and she didn’t like it. It IS a good school academically but some students (mainly undergrad) are really “white” (not trying to be racist). But even Hispanic girls and Asian girls and Indian girls have a “snoby-ish” and “pretentious” attitude. I would go and visit several times because I really wanted to attend but I always got that vibe from a lot of people. Aside from the people.. I’ve heard that a lot of classes are difficult... And I guess it makes sense since they are weedout corses. I would recommend taking those weedout corses at a community college and then transferring. If you do good at a community college in NC and take good courses for your major it is a bit easier to get into UNC Chapel Hill as a transfer than as a first year student. All three of us had to apply (and pay) as out of state students... so it was harder for us to get accepted than an in state student. But we were able to do good in school since we attended an Early College High School. I’m not trying to bash so much in the school (because it’s quite a recognized institution) but its not for everyone. A lot of universities are good too.

Alissa and Jager well their average out of state acceptance rate is 18% and their average acceptance rate overall is 25%. It's pretty hard to get into no matter where you're from

I think their transfer acceptance rate is more like 33% though! I was a very average student in high school, but did really well in community college. I'm a senior at UNC now, from in-state but I also have lots of out-of-state friends who transferred in as well.

For a NC resident, as long as you are an above average student, you have a chance. For out of state students, you should have a chance if you are a qualified candidate for the Ivies. My friend was third in her class of 500+ and had a 1570, won a bunch of awards and was waitlisted by UNC.

I go to UCF, the second biggest school in the united states. over 60,000 students. You 100% never notice how large a school is. It's hard to choose a school, you kinda just end up there in my opinion. I thought USFSP was going to be it for me, Small, artsy, cute. It wasn't. I ended up at UCF because I cried in the car after USFSP orientation and my mom realized for me that it simply wasn't fitting my personality and called UCF where I had also been accepted. I went to UCFs orientation terrified college simply wasn't for me and I LOVED it here. Visit as much as you can before you choose but the best advice I got was from my dad. He called me up when I got home from orientation and made me choose 3 top things I wanted from a school. Then he made me put them in order of most to least important. He didn't judge me for my answers no matter how stupid they may have seemed to him and that allowed me to be fully honest with myself. He then helped me decide which school closer fit the things I wanted. I wanted good housing, USFSP was going to charge me like 3000 a semester to share a living space with 7 other people and a room with 3, I was an only child that never shared a room. UCF had private rooms for 3440 a semester, my roommates fight here sometimes, I can only Imagine if we all sleep in the same room and there were 4 other girls in the space. For me that was important, to others that was stupid. Find what you need and you will end up around people who felt the same.
