HI Guys! I’m Madeleine Harvey. I’m a vocal coach, and today, I am going to be reacting to Morissette Amon singing Rise Up
Donations Welcome - www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted...
Right away, the very first thing I notice here, is one of my favorite things to hear in singers voices. The presence of sibilance (that hissing that happens when a person says a word with an "s" sound). Sibilance is a great way to get vocal texture. It’s when you use the texture of the consonant to seduce the ear of your listener by bringing them into the vocal experience. It’s extremely romantic and effective for holding the attention of the listener. I’m also seeing her use a little jaw motion as she sings. This isn’t conducive of tension, it’s more consistent with her keeping an open space in the background of her vocals. This gives her an excellent tone quality. So if you’d like to sing like Morissette Amon, to sing high and learn how to sing with a great tone, you could model her style.
In terms of Morisette Amon's style, I’m hearing the presence of Inalare la voce. It means to inhale the voice. It doesn’t mean that you inhale and sing simultaneously, it’s more of a metaphorical representation of the preparation of the voice. In order to feel the preparation of the sound, notice how the vocal tract widens when you inhale - like a yawn. Notice also how the vocal tract remains open on the exhale. This is a great way to sing with a better tone, as well as how to get rid of the break. Keeping the space gently widened in the back elevates the tendency for the muscles to constrict or to clamp down on the voice due to the demands of the song. Inalare la voce is a great way to learn to sing without tension or strain.
Morissette Amon is such a beautiful example of hearing both the presence of technique and the awesome rapture of performance. She has already done the work with the technique and is allowing it to be a supportive function in her singing Rise Up, but without having it pull away from the honesty of her performance. This allows her to appreciate the value of her own emotional experience. Morisette understands that if she allows herself to lean into her emotions, she becomes transformed by her own experience. And in turn, so do we. It’s the amazing power of performance art. It has the power to change us in the listening to this song Rise Up and similar songs.

What a unique reaction! I have seen this beautiful performance as a fan since it was first uploaded. I was not just hanging on her everyword I was hanging on yours as well. Your explanation of her sound production was easily understandable! Most importantly, I loved that you emphasized that her incredible technique did not distract from the emotional experience when all that beauty flows out of her mouth! I'm so glad a friend recommended this video. I would love to feature your reaction on my Twitter. Morissette has many admirers and fans, without a doubt, I know they would be as caught up in your words as I was. I liked and subbed immediately! Thank you for featuring her on your channel!

As a music producer, I thank you Madeleine for making this content and sharing those knowledge for free here on youtube. This vocal coach knows exactly what she's talking about. I bet she's a smart, experienced and a great vocal coach. Those things that she told you here is very clear and easy to understand yet it's so essential to be applied when you're songwriting and especially recording your track. The subtle detail and gentle touch of your vocal is very necessary but it's often forgotten. Not only for ballad or pop-ballad songs, it really matters to every genre. A singer is a storyteller, a performer, an influencer, convince the audience with every word you sang. put a delicate emotion and attitude into it. make us listener believe everything you want to tell, make us feel what you want us to feel. it's hard to apply that to every performance, but that's a key thing when you're recording. You are alone in the vocal booth, express yourself, stay focus and relax, us producer or the recording engineer isn't there to judge or harm you, we're there to help your voice, you feeling to be heard, to help you show the best of you. Practice all the thing she said in this video, then you'll find out how useful it is later. Talent maybe enough to make you famous, but a great technique will help you last longer. It 100% will help you a lot to shape your voice and help you be able to express the idea the sound in your head through your mouth. respect for you Madeleine Harvey, thank you for your service. Keep doing what you're doing.

Welcome to the world of Morissette Amon where everyone gets goosebumps and jaws drop every time she sings, dazed and confused after every song is normal in this world. Low note, High notes, Whistle notes, Voice breaks, Growls, Riffs and Runs and every kind of voice technique are present and accounted for. Where Autotune and Lip-sync were denied entry and got turned back but pure live natural talent was accepted entry without any restriction. Where Beauty, Pure Emotions are expressed in every song. Humbleness in her heart resides here. What? How? WOW! OMG! Amazing, Effortless, I am Speechless and what did I just witness? are openly declared. If you enjoyed this song be prepared for more and see how versatile she can be you won’t be disappointed
