Born in Detroit and a Wings lifer. This team is VERY hard to watch. They’re not playing for LaLonde, yet it seems we’re ok to just keep playing this badly while hoping for the best. A re-build should be supported as long as the team continues making progress. This season is definitely not progress, so the Yzerplan should come into scrutiny.

No, you did not have a "pretty good game" going through the first two periods. You had a lot of turnovers and giveaways in the first 40 just like Boston, and you only managed to avoid disaster because Boston is also mediocre. Then you let them walk all over you in the third. I have tried to be patient with Lalonde but I just can't accept his low standards for how to play hockey anymore. This team does not play in a way that is conducive to winning hockey games, and I think that's largely on him. When so many players are doing the same crappy things, that can't be a coincidence.

What's with all the hate for the coach? What coach is gonna win games with this D? Petry Charoit Holl and Gus are brutal. Let's list the slugs on offence....Copp Copher Ras Fish Veleno Motte. How many 4th liners does a team need? Even Tarasenko looks useless. IDK I'm a fan of Yzermans drafting but this is on him. I believe the only one that comes off the books at the end of the year is Petry...Ugh!

It’s the coaches system. It’s a defense first system where you dump and chase the puck, but don’t forecheck. It fits some rosters in the league. But it hasn’t worked one time for our team, and since it hasn’t worked, keeps trying it over and over again with the same result. Like he’s doing it on purpose to drive us insane.

I’ve turned to Dallas. Until the Wings pick up their sticks and actually play hockey. Since the Stanley Cup I’ve been following Dallas closer. I seemed to like the fan base, they’re a pretty unique team and I really like their arena too. Chicago used to be my second pick but, come on, they’re not really much of anything yet.

I don’t even think they can save it. Who do they have? Like 3 more forwards and 2 defenders? That can potentially play in the nhl and actually make an impact? They don’t have even 1 superstar. Steve will have to hope they develop good who ever the young players are and sign free agents to put around them The franchise fucked up and didn’t tank for another year or two.

Dump and chase hockey with average 8-13 hits per game…. What exactly is going on here? It’s supposed to be “defense first” yet we give up 30+ shots a game and have ALOT of giveaways. This is beyond terrible at this point. The fact the Lalonde is STILL deploying this laughable defense first approach, when it hasn’t worked ONE TIME. Lalonde is literally making our players worse, I am convinced. I’m starting to resent Yzerman too for obvious reasons, but also for keeping this jester of a coach around.

Was at the game. Wings looked pretty good in the first and beginning of the second then the rest of the game they looked sloppy, lackadaisical and were getting beat to the puck. DeBrincat played terrible. He constantly was getting beat the puck and missing the net. Talbot was excellent. It's clear Lalondes system is a failure. The dump and chase isn't working. They need a more aggressive style with their talent and speed. Another week or two with Lalonde and the season could be done. They have to change coaches now. Gallant or Montgomery.

They also aren’t being taught dump and chase properly. 90% of the time we dump the puck in, we have zero chance of meeting or beating the opponent to the puck. We just dump it in and the goalie plays it or their D get there first. Also, we implement a lot of dump and “change” due to defending too much and guys being gassed 😂 it’s infuriating to watch.

I have a hard time blaming Yzerman knowing what he did in TB, seems like the problem is the ownership is holding him back. He would've built a contender by now if not for the cheap ass owner. Lalonde needs to go though, wings need a coach like Dan Campbell that inspires his players and wants to win, Lalonde is too soft to coach in Detroit. It really is too bad that Lidstom, Kronwall or Federov have no interest in coaching because all three amongst other former wings would be excellent coaches. Jim Montgomery who is available would be an excellent candidate as well.

The team spent up to the cap so the owner is spending money. Allegedly Chris Ilitch said no to a 4 year for Stamkos. Thats a good thing he is not worth 4 years that Yzerman wanted to give him. Yzerman is the President and GM of the team this is his fault.

We can chat tonight about how Lalonde is the main reason the Wings are playing like a non-contender, but it goes behind the bench and even the front office. Players, like Seider have taken a whiff of what a near $9 mil a year smells like because that's what the Wings are mistakenly paying him for up to 7 years. Gonna get on my rant about Mo Seider again. Just what do you think the chances are for the Wings even getting past the 2nd round of the playoffs within the next 3 years with Seider on the roster? This guy is not worth the contract the Wings signed him for. I sort of had a flashback of his signing when the Wings signed Jimmy Rutherford more than a couple of generations ago for a huge contract, and he didn't take the Wings even close to NHL hockey's promise land. If only the Wings can rewind their offering to Seider for nearly $9 mil a year, and just think that they're stuck with this guy and this new contract for 7 years whether they bring home Stanley, or not. And judging by the way Seider is on the ice, he is not a play maker and I just can't see this guy being a game changer at all, even in the next several years. What did the Wings see in the guy? So what if he's 6 ft 2 in, 190 lbs, he's not an all around player. Seider doesn't take charge on the PP, because he doesn't know how. He's absolutely timid when he brings the puck up the ice prior to passing it backwards to either nobody, in some cases, or to a teammate who is more experienced or confident with the puck on the PP. Unless the NHL drafts nothing but amateurish type players in the next several years, players coming up, even as close in skill to the likes of a Celebrini or Beddard or a Makar, will run circles around this guy. Is anybody counting how many assignments this kid has blown in the past 2-3 seasons? Quite a few, yet the Wings reward him with a near $9 mil a year for 7 years contract. I'm thinking the Wings need to work on perfecting the Swedes they've drafted: Edvinnson, Johansson, and Pelikka, to name a few. You can't name too many German national hockey players who have had great careers in the NHL, because there aren't any the last I checked. And Seider doesn't look like he'll be the Great Deutchlander hope anytime soon. If only the Wings can renegotiate Seider's contract to a realistic figure as to his worth on the team, something much closer to a fraction of the near $9 mil a year. But all that can be done for Wings' fans is prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

You are forgetting draisaitl is german. 4. The guy plays against the opponents top lines every night and has had a different defensive partner every season he has been in the league. He needs some consistency and edvinsson is just that. Doesn't help though that edvinsson is just a rookie too. 5. The drop pass he does is by design. That's something lots of powerplays do. Idk where you have been the last like 20 years.
