I have never seen Robby have so much hand movement. Not as stiff as one would think. Even so, you can tell a human hand is behind that rubber glove.

Robbie the Robot's voice is the voice of Roddy McDowell

So, in a video detailing the history of Robby the Robot from Forbidden Planet, I heard Roddy McDowall voiced this robot in Mork and Mindy with Robin Williams, aka the Genie from Aladdin, and I needed to see this for myself. I am so glad this is a thing. ROFL!!! :D

Emotional ending! The Robot is granted "feelings." But dies sadly at the end - clinging to life and fearing the end.

Sounds like Roddy McDowell's voice in Robbie the Robots body

Robby had a successful career in movies and on TV for some years. I assume he’s retired by now, after being purchased for over $5 million by a collector at an auction in Jan. 2019.

A brilliantly different kind of design, as time goes by it looks ever more alien and thus realistic as such, the original deeper voice suits it more though I think.

That robby the robot looked so cool. It's no wonder he was in many tv shows and films.

This episode really got to me when I was a kid because it ended on a sad note.(SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT!) Chuck the Robot's programming starts to malfunction and he dies in the end and Mork gets really torn up about it. When Mork talks to the Supreme Commander at the end of the show, there is no laugh track and the tone of the talk is sad and morose.

Saddest thing I ever saw on TV

Interesting how a different voice changes things so much. I notice the suit is only semi functional, probably due to all the noise the original moving parts made, I’m not noticing full neon motion or brightness in the ‘mouth’ neither, perhaps retro-fitted with a simpler, safer, battery run affair? The original required a thick cable attached to one foot. Interesting stuff.

Did you know that some nerd paid 5.3 million last November for Robby when it sold at auction? It is the second highest selling entertainment prop next to Marilyn Monroe's white dress - the one that was blown up while she stood over a subway grate.

Yes. And seeing this reminds me of how great his movie was and simutaneously just how genuinely aweful network television was in the 70s and 80s. I can't believe that we watched such inexcusable mind numbing garbage.
