I’m so glad I found your video. I have single sided deafness at this time and am loosing it in my right ear as well. Totally deaf in the left and have been for MANY years I’m 72. I just got my cochlear implant in that ear and it was turned on. All I hear at this point is distorted sounds which is more than I heard before. I know it is a training process for my brain and am hoping when I go back they will be able to adjust it more. A lot of the things you discussed in this video has really helped me to understand the process more. Thanks David. 😊

Wow, thanks Donna! When I got my 2nd CI, everything sounded like ducks, so I understand that! Good luck in the journey of re-discovering sound. :)

David: Just discovered your channel. You really captured what life after activation is like. Rehab is crucial and can take a lot of time but for me it is worth the effort. I was activated almost 6 months. Thanks for the video. I look forward to watching more of your videos.

Thank you, David! I have watched your other posts, and while all are inspiring and thoughtful, this one is the most exciting to me. I have SSD-left and was just implanted on March 13th. I am looking forward to my activation-and-beyond journey as well, and now I have a better idea on what is in store.

Thank you for your stories, I was born hearing loss as mild. My hearing has been going down over the years. Im now have severe hearing loss. I am hear clear in my left hearing aid. Im having trouble hearing from my right hearing aid. I am on the borderline to be candiate. My audiologist want me go get evaluation for CI if I am candiate. Im concern if I will be candiate because I might do good in my words test. I also have another question. Can I go swiming if I get CI? I am researching about CI and thinking if Im ready. Thanks for the videos of your stories Dawn

You can also pair it with a Phonak hearing aid if one ear is not ready for a CI. You can contact AB for more information here: www.advancedbionics.com/ They will be able to provide all the details of the latest technology available and help walk you through the whole process. Yes I have a Phonak Paradise hearing aids. My audiologist works with Phonak and she thinks I should use my left side as my hearing aid and my right side for CI since that is my weak ear. Do adult have colors CI like the kids or we only got hair oe skin colors for CI? I will message you if I have questions. This is new for me since I have been wearing hearing aids for 45 years.

@@dawndiaz5126 Each person likes to express their personality differently with colors. I love my white for the pool and then the contrast dark petrol for everyday use. I love the sleek look. :)

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. How old were you when you were implanted? My little was about three. Since them it’s been quite an “adventure.”

Can you recognise people's voices with your cochlear implant?
