Morning has broken, like the first morning Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird Praise for the singing, praise for the morning Praise for the springing fresh from the word Sweet the rain’s new fall, sunlit from heaven Like the first dewfall, on the first grass Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden Sprung in completeness where His feet pass Mine is the sunlight, mine is the morning Born of the one light, Eden saw play Praise with elation, praise every morning God’s recreation of the new day Morning has broken, like the first morning Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird Praise for the singing, praise for the morning Praise for the springing fresh from the word

When I played this song just now, I felt such a powerful wave of melancholy and grief.. and then I realised it was the song that played when I picked up the urn containing my dad's ashes to carry it out, as part of the service. I miss him so very, very much.

It sounds like it was a beautiful service and tribute to your father. May he rest peacefully in heaven and may God bless you! Your dad is watching over you and you'll see him again someday!

Amazing. The opening image looks like Lulworth Cove/Durdle Door in Dorset along the Jurassic Coast. The Daffodils and Blackbird brings back wonderful memories. I always wake up to Birdsong all Birds are Angels.

Still, after all this time Rick Wakeman gets no credit for the great piano playing on this. He made up the riffs on the spot to help out Stevens.

It really is weird, right?...He walked away from a solid career...he had the looks and the talent, to be in show business for decades...in pop music, it is important to have an easily identified vocal sound--he had that!

He became a muslim, certainly, but not a fanatical one - quite the opposite in fact.
