I just started morning pages and going through some videos,they said it brought out the the worse in them and they won't recommend it,so what's your intake on that?
@timeandtideplans3 жыл бұрын
@@busayhomilawaladeyemi3800 that's a great question! The author repeats that you might not find writing the papers enjoyable. By writing what boils up you might end up writing on topics and thoughts that you haven't wanted to address. She tells you to keep going. I never experienced a feeling of not wanting to come back to my pages. If I felt like I was getting overly negative I would usually write that down - something like - I feel like I am being overly critical or super negative this morning. I don't want to start my day like this so I'm going to focus on 10 things I'm grateful for... something like that. It brought up a lot of things I needed to change and had known in the back of my mind that I should fix, but hadn't take the time or muster the courage to take action on. I did a few vlogs on weekly reflections on the channel - there might have been one week that I didn't want to write. I'd be interested in watching a video on why writing pages brought out the worst in someone.

Two years later; any new thoughts? How is it going?
@timeandtideplans Жыл бұрын
@@bhotaling1 thoughts?! So many. It was life changing. The biggest difference is that I use cheap dot grid traveler journals for my MP now. I also have an easier time doing Artist Dates. I did her Walking in this World book last summer, but was underwhelmed. I'll do the Artist's Way again this year. Who I am and how I experience life and creativity has changed so much, I'd love to do the program again. Have you done it yet?

Great video. I'd like to know how it's going with your morning pages three years later. I started Morning Pages only 36 days ago, and it's intriguing to see what has developed, as each day I have no idea when I start writing. There are these characters that have appeared: Dr Ik, who speaks on behalf of my conscious rational self; Idio, who is the great repository of everything my senses have digested, and brings back memories from the past, and long forgotten childhood memories too; Geni, the tutelary spirit, with her hope, insights and wisdom (she is a woman of few words at present); Lucidia, the winged scribe who captures little details, like the candle burning low, the wind outside, or rain falling, etc. She makes no judgements, but only captures data like a stenographer. And then finally there's the antagonist Squawk, the raven, critical and bitingly truthful, who will gloat at putting the mirror of past sins and present fears in my face. Together we are sailing on a yacht to Elysian Bay across the ocean.

Very beautiful video👏 What Happens when we have accumulated enough morning pages ? I mean should I keep referring back to old notes to analyze and capture ideas turn it into action? Secondly should I dispose the accumulated notes to avoid volumes of books occupying table space?

Ha! Such a good point. I got rid of my morning pages from my 12 weeks with the Artist’s away. I sometimes regret it and wish I knew what I was thinking then. Since then I’ve kept them, because I add in other notes in the same books. I’ve enjoyed looking back on them. I’m not sure I’ll keep them forever though, because you’re right they do take up space - and, they aren’t journals.

Great information and a great outline of the process and how it works! Since Morning Pages are intended to always be private, is it best to use cheap notebooks like composition notebooks, so they can later be destroyed? Would it be useful to keep Morning Pages as a journal to look back on later? Or is the intention to always look foward?
@timeandtideplans3 жыл бұрын
I'm so glad it was helpful! If you are doing The Artist's Way 12 week program there is a point where you are asked to review your Pages and see what is repeatedly coming up for you. That might be something to think about. I JUST recycled my pages from the 12 week program... it was a tough decision, but ultimately I decided I was never going to read them again and I would rather no one else read them ever either. They served their purpose in helping me make sense of myself. I have my new pages in a Moleskin journal. I have kept those journals (I journaled in a less structured way since having kids). I'm not sure if I will continue that practice. They're bulky, and will I ever read my pages? I don't think so. I like to flip through and see quotes, doodles, or notes I made about my kids, but there are better ways of saving those things.

Hey Jenn I thought of starting the journey got myself "the artist way" book and It been difficult for me to wake up early in the morning and do 3 pages and I dont know how helpful it can get I just hope it helps me, I have been unemployed for 2years straight and dealing with depression, so what might be the best way for me not to procrastinate when doing this..
@timeandtideplans2 жыл бұрын
What a great point - when I don’t wake up early it’s harder for me to get them done too. I’ve heard Julia Cameron say that she recommends doing them throughout the day then (but that first thing when you wake up is most effective). For this reason I got smaller notebooks. I have to change them out more often, but it allows me to take my pages with me if I don’t finish them in the morning. I really think that completing the Artists way program helped me see the value in writing every day. I had journaled before that, but never consistently. Wishing you the very best in your path for peace ❤️

Hi, I remember you said/write that you read and listened about artist's way. I have started to implement the programme last year. It helped me a lot. but for some reason I had to stop to implement the program after week 5. then I tried to continue, however, the efficiency of the programme has diminished, despite I continued morning pages. I totally stopped at week 8. Then by time, I decreased the days I write morning pages. Now, I really want to do it again, thinking how it helped me those days. However, I could not find any thoughts about whether should I begin from scratch, or continue from where I have stopped? do you know anything about that?
@timeandtideplans2 жыл бұрын
That’s a good question! Speaking only from personal experience - I started her Artists Way follow up book, Walking in this World - I took last week off and am just going to pick up from where I left off. You could review your notes from the 5 weeks of activities you did and get started working on week 6. I remember some weeks being more interesting than others. I would create themed doodle pages to write quotes or thoughts as I went to keep me interested. I wish you a fulfilling last half of the program!

I'm going through an extremely difficult time in life after my husband lost his job. Is this programme worth starting when under enormous stress or should it be done when more emotionally settled? My second question: is the programme suitable for a person who is not artistic and barely creative? Thank you
@timeandtideplans2 жыл бұрын
I'm so sorry to hear that! That's a good question. The program is for people who feel stuck. I didn't consider myself "artistic" either, but it doesn't require you to be. The program changed my life in so many ways, but looking on KZbin, not everyone had that experience. For example, I still do Morning Pages - whereas I've watched videos of others who say they were too painful to complete each day. If you haven't already you might consider starting with Morning Pages to test it out. Three pages of writing first thing in the morning- whatever comes to mind you write without self-editing. I did that prior to the program as well. Here is info on Morning Pages: juliacameronlive.com/basic-tools/morning-pages -- I'm currently reading/doing activities out of her book, The Sound of Paper. I'm enjoying that one too. It assumes you are starting at "point zero." No matter what I wish you peace in moving forward.

@@timeandtideplans Thank you Jennifer. Someone just kindly offered to buy me the book so I will do my best to try. I'm not creative as such but have ideas (I'm working for charities in the migration sector in UK) and potential that I feel is very much stuck and blocked.

Hi, I'm curious. Does it have to be exactly three pages?
@timeandtideplans3 жыл бұрын
That's a good question. There are days now that I'm done with the program where I only get in a couple page, or maybe I do a page and a list... Julia Cameron explained in The Artist's Way that the first page and a half is usually a sort of dusting off the cobwebs writing. The second page is really where the good stuff starts to come out in yrou writing. I have found that to be true in my own experience as well.
