The long-time tradition at St. John's Church in Detroit on the second and fifth Sundays was to have Choral Morning Prayer as the primary worship service. With a reclaiming of the catholic understanding of the primacy of the Holy Communion for the community worship service, we desired tohave Mass every Sunday without losing the Morning Prayer tradition. Therefore after Morning Prayer we have the Communion service from the "Sursum Corda" (Lift up your hearts...) onward, thereby making Morning Prayer the "Ante-communion" portion of the service.
