Morning Skyline commute disrupted by malfunction

Morning commuters on the Honolulu Skyline were caught by surprise when one of the rail cars started traveling in the opposite direction. City officials said this was due to an error in the system.

The rail cost tax payers for the next five thousand years but they couldn't afford to pay actual humans to drive it. I feel a lot safer in Tokyo having actual train conductors driving the trains. And when self driving cars become the norm I'll stay off the road.

although they tout Scamline as the first fully automated rail in the US, that’s not true. Tren Urbano in San Juan was designed from the start as automated/optionally driven system, but they’ve used train operators from the beginning in 2004 for security reasons. The Las Vegas monorail is also unmanned, in operation since 1995. Then there are also automated systems like the trains in the Atlanta airport…

Starting from no where, going no where, time to bring down the bus fare, $3.00 , to $1.00 . Malfunction, bad product. Put all bus route back in place, especially the country express

@@ElseAndrecool Before you were born, with the same busses, similar expenses, you only needed a dollar and had an all day transfer. $40 a month pass. I can see a cost for convenience trade off but overall it is an inconvenience as an adult. Subsidizing rail by tying TheBus in using the HOLO system is a clever obfuscation of our government. Stripping back Bus services to direct more traffic to rail is inconvenient (As obviously going the wrong way on a fixed track would be for any working adult.). We had one of the best public bus systems in the county for a while...

Well it's what you get when you build a train system quickly, cheaply, and under budget. 😂 Perhaps the state should hire a consultant to draft up a 12 month study to determine what happened and provide a budget for a fix. 😂

Inconvenience or not, this shows that Autonomous trains are able to keep their passengers safe without a driver at the controls...but they should at least train more drivers to operate these trains manualy incase the autonomy system really malfunctions.

Give it a couple more years and the rail will be worth it once it starts reaching most of the island. It takes a little time. The local bus system here on oahu took time before the bus started traveling all over the island. Locals were complaining about the bus system when it first started out in Hawaii. But now that its been up and running for a long time people appreciate it. Patience. The big picture takes time. The rail will be good for the upcoming and next generation.
