It's interesting how this bird is making little quiet sounds, while most of pet cockatoos I watched on KZbin scream like a car alarm.

My grandmother and the old lady who lives next door to her for 40+ years would often do gardening in their backyards, they had the same name. So one would say to the other "Hello Joan" and get the same answer "Hello Joan"... The neighbour would always put out seeds and the ends of loaves of bread and whatnot and there would always be a huge flock of Cockatoo's. That was more than 25 years ago, but all the cockatoo's in the area will still say "hello joan" back to you if you say it to them. I still miss her.

Because they've gotten used to humans, and cockatoos are very quick learners, they've learned that we are not a predator or threat to them, so they have become inquisitive and curious as to us and what we do.

you can try to give them all-natural almonds and walnuts (no salt or roasted), or you can try sunflower seeds and oats. Fresh fruits and veggies can be offered too! But too many biscuits aren't that good for them (but there are entirely wheat or grain biscuits that don't have any salt or bad stuff, I'm pretty sure those are fine).

@@decayedcake1245 from what I understand, fat isn't as harmful in a wild diet where the bird gets lots of exercise as it is in captivity. Well, this bird will better get its biscuit everyday. Otherwise it will likely become a bit p'd off. Which it seems to have been once or twice by looking at the wooden deck rail --> chunks have been taken out by the bird already. Cockatoos will start chewing off chunks of wooden exterior when they get frustrated or bored. :-). Seen a flock of them do massive damage to a house on TV.

Sunflower seeds, perhaps? I am not an expert, but I repeatedly heard that most of processed humsn food like bread or bisketts is harmful to wild birds. It is addictive, true, they won't stop begging for it. I've seen other videos where cockatoos also eat fruit, which was a surprise to me. I have never seen a bird with a taste for apples in my area. My guests come exclusively for sunflower seeds. It feels like they can eat half of their body weight of that stuff in one sitting. Try offering that to your guest.
