Geez, that sucks! Good luck with the birds that survived. I'm only seeing about 13 left.

That's exactly what's left. Adenovirus 2 is brutal. I've never seen anything like it.

@@kerbyjackson88 .. Need to get the Adeno Vaccine.
@kerbyjackson884 ай бұрын
@ausfuhrpramienjagar From what I can find out, there doesn't appear to be one on the market. One biotechnology company mentions one, but they appear to be seeking funding to bring it to market or finish trials. There are vaccines for poultry Adenovirus, but they are Types 8 and 9. The Type 2 is the massive killer for pigeons.
@ausfuhrpramienjagar4 ай бұрын
@@kerbyjackson88 .. Type 2 is basically an old bird virus, doesn't bother young birds too much. Not like regular Adenovirus.

Sorry to ear about your adeno problem and your losses. Best of luck with the YB'S you have. When do your races start?
@kerbyjackson884 ай бұрын
@@MaydisLoft Thanks. We will be racing young birds in October and yearlings and old birds in May or June. The "trick" for me will be to keep this small team around and have enough late hatches to carry through into next year. The leftovers on this team had to be tough to survive and are doing pretty well, so I think a good number will make it to October.

Kirby, I am so very careful now about who I get birds from, to the point where I am not really bringing in any new birds in my loft. I have friends who literally lost their entire loft because of bringing in one new bird and not treating them before introducing into their flock. If you need anything let me know, my brother!!

@NewBeginningKennelLoft Thanks. This was a tough experience, but I'm trying to look at it as a learning experience and have a lot of data on the losses. It's been really eye-opening and dare I say it, intriguing and highly educational. Hopefully, we actually gain from it, even though it might sound like a really funny way to look at it.
