Here in the US, years ago (1960's), before Exxon, they were called Esso. Don't know if the same company exists other than Exxon Corporation. Every time in Canada that you pass an Esso station, I think of the old days with Esso (before Exxon) here in the USA.
@samfrankow31673 жыл бұрын
Standard Oil was considered too big, USA gov't made them break into smaller companies, Exxon was one, S O was another - ES SO to rep standard oil (S O) while legal was to be viewed as a slap in the face to the US gov't

According to the web, Tim Horton's kiosks started appearing in Esso Gas Stations back in 1994. So, I guess since then full-size restaurants have been appearing next to the truck stops.

Esso looks like it has the same exact design as our Exxon gas stations in the US. I'm guessing the same company. Timmy's probably has a deal with Esso, similar to how Mcdonalds and Subway are in Walmarts all the time.

Josh I wouldn't put that vapor barrer underneath the house because it will draw every bit of the moisture in the ground under their and turn it into a muddy mess under their now too reason I'm saying this is because I've helped people put it under their house and a few months later they had to literally drag it all back out from under their now too cause of the mud and good thing is that they caught it fast enough because if it's leaft under their too long it can cause black mold to start growing too
@Trucker_Josh3 жыл бұрын
That's literally what the barrier prevents... we must not be talking about the same thing
@jamesburke57093 жыл бұрын
@@Trucker_Josh yeah we are here but if it does it like I've seen in the past here too it'll draw every bit of the moisture in the ground up to it and it'll turn it into a muddy mess for you now too simple because plastic on the ground will stay wet under it too put a plastic bag on the ground when it's dry and check it in a few days it'll be wet under it too okay
@jamesburke57093 жыл бұрын
@@Trucker_Josh Josh if you don't believe me go outside to your crawlspace going under your house and put a piece of plastic on it and give it a week or so then go back out there and check it and it'll be damp or wet under the plastic too now okay
@Trucker_Josh3 жыл бұрын
But that's the whole point....The ground is completely sealed off from the crawlspace with a vapour barrier... All that moisture that's under the barrier would otherwise enter the sealed crawlspace and can cause mold and rot.... we WANT it to stay in the ground... hence the barrier. That's what they're supposed to do

Esso is a trading name for ExxonMobil. Originally, the name was primarily used by its predecessor Standard Oil of New Jersey after the breakup of the original Standard Oil company in 1911.[1] The company adopted the name "Esso" (the phonetic pronunciation of Standard Oil's initials, 'S' and 'O'),[2] to which the other Standard Oil companies would later object. Standard Oil of New Jersey started marketing its products under the Esso brand[3] in 1926.[4] In 1972, the name Esso was largely replaced in the U.S. by the Exxon brand after the Standard Oil of New Jersey bought Humble Oil, while the Esso name remained widely used elsewhere. In most of the world, the Esso brand and the Mobil brand are the primary brand names of ExxonMobil, while the Exxon brand is used only in the United States alongside Mobil.
