What a great vlog. Thanks! Sorry for the food sickness. I got so sick on a Mediterranean cruise in January so I empathize with you.

A new and beautiful experience, but didn't you know that Tangier has a high-speed train to Casablanca? You would arrive within two hours. Welcome to Morocco!!!

Great video, I think it would've been waay better and comfortable for you if you took the ferry to Tangier instead and from there take the high speed train to Casablanca, Nador is a big far and remote town lol
@felixonrails
@felixonrails 7 ай бұрын
Nador was pretty nice - if it hadn't been for the food poisoning, we would have enjoyed it much more.
@Feeldartcorp
@Feeldartcorp 7 ай бұрын
i mean it's sometimes better from nador because if he really want to take the ferry to Tanger he would need to go all the way down to south of Spain
@felixonrails
@felixonrails 7 ай бұрын
exactly - also either you have to take the bus in spain to get to Tarifa to catch a ferry that directly goes to Tanger, or you'd have to take the bus from Tangier Med to the city, whereas Beni Ansar to Nador is 15 mins of taxi ride.

@@felixonrails there is a ferry that takes to Tangier ville port too but it's just a preference, the road you took was good too

Are you sure there is a ferry from Algeciras to Tangier ville? I couldn't find any. You first have to take the bus to Tarifa, there you can catch a ferry to Tangier ville.

Hm I thought long about your question. I think it's possible if you do more breaks, especially if you don't try to reach Madrid in one single day. You could get to Lyon from Zurich (IC5 to Geneva and then a TER to Lyon, though they are crowded), stay overnight in Lyon and then continue to Barcelona and even Madrid. In our trip, we had only a very short night in Madrid, we arrived by midnight, went to a hostel 10 mins from the station, had like 5 hours of sleep to catch the only direct train to Almeria which leaves at 8 in the morning. Either you stay two nights in Madrid to get more rest, or you take one of the connecting trains in Grenada. I think it's possible to do it if you don't push yourselves too hard.

Great video I would like to mention a few things :D. At 6:11 the Talgo train was NOT a S102 pato but a S130 "patito" that can change gauge from the 1435mm to the 1668mm. 6:56 that not the Spanish operators themself its the Infratrucure manager ADIF that imposes the security check and ticket check at major stations hophully in 2028 when the Iberian services are moved to La Sagrera and Internacional services to Sants the situation are gona get better!!!(Or when theres enougth presure from the 3 operators to remove it) . At 9:18 at Madrid Atocha Cercanías(The part where the Iberian gauge services and Comuter services depart from) you can actually walk to tracks but you must reconoze your train or undetand Spanish!!!. I do look foward for your next rail adventures :D
@felixonrails
@felixonrails 7 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment, yes, you're right about the patito! The thing about the security check is that they don't seem mandatory for Cercanías, but only for the high speed trains, then? Anyway, the security check is one thing, the other is queuing up for boarding. Both of it are annoying. 😂
@Cepia120
@Cepia120 7 ай бұрын
.Correct for the Cercanías part is not necesary. The Madrid Atocha Cercanías part are for Cercanías train (Comuter train service) and MD service and not that many LD distance due to works so Adif dont see it as necesary the security controls. I do hope that all 3 operators make Adif to change that!!!! :D And tiny fun fact there gona be another train to Almeria (Via Granada Insted Linares) using a S730 (Just like a Patito but with big diesel generator).

@@felixonrails YES, IT IS annoying to have to do security checks, but a country that has seen very bloody terrorist attacks on trains... I prefer to stand in line a little bit and travel much safer... greetings

The security check, yes - I just hope that the terrorists don't find out that there are more crowded trains without any security check. As for the boarding queue, this is just Renfe ADIF shenanigans.
