What? I've heard a lot of stupid things, but this is beyond stupid. Human progress was always building upon the knowledge of previous generations no matter the source. Islamic empire translated thousands of works that were lost after the fall of the roman empire as Europe fell into the dark ages. They studied and innovated in astronomy, health sciences, and mathematics to name a few. It wasn't just out of curiosity, the Quran's teachings encourages knowledge and understanding of Gods creations.
