Geez, this place looks so hectic, so cool to see what it actually looks like in first person view

It’s a very cool place to visit! But yeah, a lot is going on at all times

Nice video and set of pixs. How difficult was it navigating around the souks without an official guide? Is it a case of if you keep walking, you'll eventually come out one side, which will then orientate your bearings?

I feel like the "come out more" hand gesture when directing people is like turning your car keys in the ignition. Always the FIRST thing we all do before posing anything else. Gotta get that distance from the backdrop!

Would love to hear more on this. Not sure if I’m fully understanding you, but it has me interested.

@@calincharles You know, when you do the little “come here” hand gesture right as you’re starting to direct her. Almost like when you’re giving someone across from you, the right of way at a 4 way intersection The quick motion of your four fingers bending rapidly towards you.

@@DanielNobreOnTheWeb oh haha yeah. Very true. Something I really want to get better at this year is directing models. I feel like my tongue gets tied so often when explaining what I want

Thanks for the video! Going next week - though ive heard mixed reports about tourist taking photos, locals can be stand offish - so I may only take the iPhone rather than my dslr? Any thoughts?

Hey Calin! Thanks so much for the video! Do you think 35mm would be wide enough there? (self cropping a lot)
@calincharles Жыл бұрын
Yeah I think a 35 would actually be a really great lens for the area. Close to what your eye sees which I think would fit the environment well. I even took out an 85 at one point and enjoyed some of the results I was able to get.

@@calincharles what about scammers ?
@calincharles Жыл бұрын
@@ayoubessabtaoui2005 what about them specifically? People attempted to scam us 10-15 times a day in Fes by lying to us about directions in order to get money. It’s annoying but that doesn’t reflect on the entire country. The country overall was a very positive experience.

@@calincharles do you think they cheat because of poverty or because of something else I mean criminality ؟
@calincharles Жыл бұрын
@@ayoubessabtaoui2005 I'm sure its an incredibly complex situation that I wouldn't even begin to be have the knowledge to really give an answer to. I'm sure likely it has to do with economic struggles that they face. I personally think it's wrong that the government has taken a "tourists first & moroccans second" stance and can throw moroccans in prison for giving tours to tourists. But it also strikes me that many locals have differing opinions on the matter. Some we talked to felt that there's obvious economic reasons for why these "scams" happen, while other locals also felt and expressed that it's the easy nature of these "scams" to make money that attracts often young boys/men to engage in them and that it bothers them when it happens. At the end of the day, I think it's important for tourists to be educated about these scams to stay safe as I've heard of accounts where tourists/women get attacked or assaulted (instead of just asked for money) by people lying to them about directions, but also to not judge a country or individual negatively when these things happen. As like I believe you're pointing out, there are obvious economic reasons for why some people engage in "scamming" tourists. Every country has positive & negative things about it, and I think everyone should try to travel as safely as possible while also keeping an open mind and respecting the country they visit.
