We are working alongside the City of Morondava in Madagascar and the private sector to clean the drainage system in the area that has been in need of maintenance.
Morondava is a coastal city located between the Mozambique Channel and the Morondava River Delta and is surrounded by water bodies. The city is prone to flooding and suffers from poor drainage and weak solid waste management systems.
The rehabilitation of the city's drainage system is part of the four-year, Building Urban Resilience in South-Eastern Africa project that was launched in December 2020 and funded by the Adaptation Fund.
This is one of 8 projects that will benefit this city.
Oxfam South Africa supports this project as part of our Saving Lives and Building Resilience programme.
