with only 2 strings and a bag full of cool Mark Sandman rocked the world and left a lasting impression that will be felt for decades to come. I try to get my younger nephews to listen to Morphine every chance I get....Mark Sandman R.I.P.

Dammit Mark and Jerome as a rhythm section kick ass, they are so tight and swinging and the saxophone is so beautiful and smokey and gives them such a unique angle, plus Mark's vocals, words, attitude, vision..the coolest. Keep turning people on to Morphine.

Saw heard them in an old theater in Detroit, 1994. They were low key slamming. Sandman with his Ampeg, two string hollow body slide bass and Jerome and that bari sax man. It has always spoken to me. We danced like idiots to "Thursday" back in '94..

Fave morphine songs, no particular order: all your way, cure for pain, empty box, top floor bottom buzzer, french fries with pepper, rope on fire, cocoon, let's take a trip together, have a lucky day. Not to mention treat her right's i think she likes me. You know they are a great band when you cant limit them to having just 2-3 good songs you like and cant honestly pick a favorite from the cornicopia of soundscapes each represents, they were submerged in the underbelly or nirvana quietly scratching the surface til people discovered and will continue to discover there greatness

Saw them at chastain park at HORDE festival probably 92’ , those days were foggy but so much fun. Blues Traveler, Black Crowes, Ziggy Marley and the melody makers and Urban Dance Squad from Holland! John Popper invented some of the best music festivals, so diverse yet melded perfectly. Gosh I miss when good music was at the forefront of life
