Welcome back to another Video... Recently i completed a pole over on my instagram and ask you all what you would like to see more of, and one of the most requested videos was "how i feed my family for £30 or less per week".
In 2022, my goal is to film every Surplus food box/bag i buy via the Too good to Go app. Too good to go is a surplus food app that connects retailers with surplus food to consumers that want to purchase that surplus food. personally i have been using the app for years now to reduce my food bill.
Every day, delicious, fresh food goes to waste at cafes, restaurants, hotels, shops and manufacturers - just because it hasn’t sold in time. The Too Good To Go app lets you buy and collect this food - at a great price - so it gets eaten instead of wasted. You won’t know exactly what’s in your order until you pick it up - it’s all part of the surprise.

Love this! Watching from Texas in the US. I just found out the city of Austin now has this program! It's over an hour drive away. Next time we're there I'm going to try to do this.

What an awesome good too go bag/box this biggest I have ever seen some store in town do this but really you need able drive if late on night ones this is fantastic I use it a lot thanks for the haul

100% agree!!!!! Every store that makes or sells food should definitely be doing it. I definitely believe that we as a society need to be more vocal about the change we want to see.

The staff have "ways and means" to pre empt this buisness, and so they should. First pick, all day long. They still bin tons of stuff. They could'nt give a monkeys about waste.

@@themuminthenorth well i ended up with 3 steak pies, 3 pork pies and 2 cheese pastries. probs not the healthiest selection but im sure they will get eaten, also got a second bag from a cafe nearby and it was more interesting, with a tuna melt baguette, a cheese and tomato toastie and a couple of sweet pastries

QUESTION Love your videos! What time do you go to Morrisons to get a full box like that. Mine always are half empty but still very good value. Do you ask the Morrisons attendant for anything? Many thanks!

Hiya thanks for stopping by and saying hi! I usually go as soon as the collection time goes live. I don't ask for anything from the staff, they are usually pretty quick with bringing the boxes out. So I don't really have time to ask for anything from them....... I have actually noticed that the boxes I get are starting to get smaller. Maybe they are doing that at all Morrisons now.

Parsnip and apple soup? I had one bag from my local store - everything was date up, 9 items total, all on final reduction (so total value of £1.74 for £3.09) and three items were bad and had to be thrown away! Mind you, stock control is very poor at the store….

Do you find if you go earlier or later you get more or is it pot luck ? Going to start donating these to food banks

I tend to find that no matter when you go.... Boxes are always the same. Please check with your local food bank what they accept. The rules and regulations have changed in terms of what they can and can't accept. 100% support the idea but please be sure you speak to your local food bank first. Would hate for them to not accept the box and York efforts go to waste. 🙂

Tried this a few times and each time total waste of money. One bag had 10 packs of 4 x baking potatoes (40 baking potatoes), bag of carrots, watery bag of smashed up parsley and a loaf of morrisons own bread and others have been similarly bad. Certainly never boxes always bags. Would love someone to actually show a bad box to show the reality of what these are really like the majority of times!

One of the reasons I stopped getting them was due to the amount of bread given... 4 loaves for a family of 6 is bonkers. I had to hand them out to neighbours. 🙊

Yep! That's exactly what I do! My freezer is always full with meal preps and pre cooked veg from these boxes!
