I'm from Manchester, saw Morrisey first when he was in the nosebleeds his first band before the Smiths, managed to get over to Vegas to see him back in 2011. Seen him about 10 times and he gets better with age, needs to drop the tambourine tho.

Is no one else going to mention the obvious? Irregardless of how much Morrisey was an iconic cult legend, (from the 80s & early 90s) this version of the song, with him singing in 2022, is awful. (or as Simon Cowl would say “Dreadful”) - If I didn’t see the video title, & if I heard the song with my eyes closed, I would think Joe Biden was singing this song.
@nickjones2656 Жыл бұрын
Pretty lifeless band. The version from the Move festival in Manchester in 2002 is definitive.
@MikeCee7 Жыл бұрын
@@nickjones2656 I agree about Manchester 2002. My main point in this video, was that: Morrissey sound like a very old dude in this video. (I wasn’t referring to the band’s possibly ineptness)
@ronanmccarthy3098 Жыл бұрын
Agree. First thing I noticed was that his voice is no longer the same. The song is only half the original

Probably mid-50's or older..... great voices lose their timbre/resonance. Listen to Rod, Cliff, Elton the past few years or more. i
@MikeCee7 Жыл бұрын
@@bimmeroo0906 Yes, I was just pointing out the obvious, that it seemed everybody else (most) was just ignoring, that Morriseys singing here, sounded awful. - Grace Slick from Jefferson Airplane / Starship, had it right when she said (sometime back in the 1980s) that she’s going to stop singing when she reaches a certain age. I forgot what age she said that was going to be. But she said (something to the effect) that: “no one wants to see an old fart singing and prancing around on stage.”

Morrisey is a good writer. But, his imagination seems to be linked to this idea that some sort of better Britain existed in the early 60's. It wasn't any better then than now.
