I just wanted to say that since I grew up in the 80's listening to a lot of bands - such as Morresey (Well, back when they were known as The Smiths), The Damned, The Cure, Siouxie, etc. The Goth Girl - right before it was called "Goth" - and I really love watching how younger people now are reacting to the bands that I loved back in the day - and see their reaction to the songs that we listened to - (especially the "Post-Punk" "Goth" back then that really wasn't played over here on the radio in the U.S. - but rather at a really chill place here in Lake Worth, FL that two teachers from the high school across the street - had this "Teen Danciteria" basically, a night club for uneraged kids open on Friday and Saturday night from 8pm to 1am. Anyhow, it was through the D. J. there - and *one* radio station called Rock Over London and 120 Minutes on MTV - when it still was "music television" that I found SO many amazing bands... I cannot tell how old you are - but I'm guessing late High School to early College? It's SO hard to tell how old another person is once you've hit your 40's! 😆 When *that* happens - you know you've gotten old - okay, sorry for the distraction there - but I mentioned this anyway because as I got into Morissey and quite a few bands that you've done a reaction video on and I find your takes on pretty well - most of these bands I have had the absolute honor of listening and dancing to growing up to be refreshing, honest and deeply thought about - finding the meaning of what the artist probably was trying to convey - as well as what the lyrics mean to you as well. So, I'm happy to have found your channel - you seem like a highly articulate intelligent and emotionally deep human being. Keep on going the way you are and I truly believe that you'll do very well in life!

Nonsense. He was in a band, they made many great records in a few short years, they broke up, and he went on with his career. Even stretching the words as far as possible, I can't see how tf you lay "devious" and "underhanded" over that. What does that even mean?? Why do people think they know what went on in the personal relationships of celebrities and artists? And why do you seem to feel he owed it to you personally to keep the band together? He's made a ton of great solo records. Like this great song. Why are you even talking about The Smiths here? And as far as the Joyce thing, he and Rourke both signed contracts. Yyyyyyears after the fact, when he had nothing going on, Joyce decided that, no, the terms he'd agreed to were unfair and really he deserved ONE FOURTH of the royalties. He wasn't a songwriter! He played drums. They would have been literally the same band with the same level of success had they let some other dude keep the time. I'll admit Rourke had some pretty great bass lines, but never in the history of ever has anyone been listening to a Smiths record and thought about the damn drums. (The one possible exception is the intro to "The Queen Is Dead.") He was an adequate drummer, that's all. A million others could have filled that slot. But even if he was super, the best, he still didn't write the songs! The Smiths WERE Morrissey and Marr, plus two extremely lucky guys they took along for the ride. They got paid. And Joyce had no issue with it until like a decade after the fact. It just shows you how corrupt the English courts are they even heard the case. The songwriters get the lion's share of royalties! Every musician knows this. Edit: "And what do YOU do? You just sit there!" The girl in the video gets it: sometimes you gotta eat alone, because you're the one bringing everything to the table. The proof is in the pudding. Y'all big fans of the music Joyce has made SINCE The Smiths? Haha. He was the luckiest session musician ever, able to say he was a member of one of the all-time classic bands. Imho, he was lucky to have been paid what they originally gave him! Morrissey was once asked if he'd consider a Smiths reunion. (Well, he's been asked many times, but one time he actually answered.) "Why would I? I've done the work." Where is Mike friggn Joyce? He probably would've ended up working on a building site had he not lucked into the gig. Without looking it up, can you name a SINGLE DAMN THING he's done since? Morrissey has gone on, growing as an artist, his lyrics growing more personal and less reliant on clever literary references. Honestly, there's at least five solo Morrissey albums that mean more to me than any Smiths album. And what have Joyce or even Rourke been up to? Honestly, what has even MARR been up to? Every dang time I see him, he's using Morrissey's name to get people to pay attention to him. Listen to the lyrics of the song! YES, it IS autobiographical: he's had to endure leeches like Mike Joyce crawling out of the woodwork, siphoning from HIS hard work.
