I wish there where more games like morrowind. All those systems interacting with each other waiting for the player to interact with them in interesting and unexpected ways. Most games nowadays have to be balanced and thus remove all the fun. Very clever idea! Never thought of this particalar way.

Agreed. There are very few games that leave open ended mechanics that allow you to creatively massacre the game. Games like Kenshi and Gemcraft are similar to Morrowind in this respect. I hope Morrowind gets a remaster with some QoL and visual upgrades, while still keeping the essence of the gameplay.

You can actually do this with any item that a vendor has that replenishes. Stack your alchemy ingredients and soul gems to stupid high and just buy in bulk.

What I liked to do was get a golden saint sole gem and enchant a constant levitate on a item. If you are a Breton you can wear boots of speed without the blind, and fly around the skies of morrowwind like a F-16. Dance on Guards heads was fun too.

Back in the day, I tried something like this and learned that soultrapping your summons as part of the summon would keep them from despawning at the end of their duration. Using this, I summoned an army of ancestor ghosts and promptly crashed the game.

That's hilarious! My crashes were usually the result of pushing my Speed too high. I think, on the computer that I was using at the time, I could get to about 8000 speed before the game would crash. Not sure if that's due to hardware or the game itself. It might be fun to see how high I could push it on my current computer. Pushing up the other stats as high as I could was always fun. I used the Fortify Intelligence exploit to make potions that gave me 30 MILLION in my stats. At 30 million strength, daedric weapons break in a single hit. At 30 million Personality, the bandits in bandit hideouts will cheerfully greet you instead of attacking you. Good times!

Amazing! My favorite RPG, and there's still more for me to learn. In my most recent playthrough I was trying Morrowind Rebirth in OpenMW on my phone. In that mod ancestor ghost souls are lesser, so I would stock up on lesser soul gems at the Vivec Foreign Quarter enchanter. I enchanted a Dwarven spear with cast on strike soul trap, and as long as I kept it repaired it would 1-shot the ghosts. There's an ancestral tomb near Balmora if you follow the river down a bit where 6 ancestor ghosts would spawn, and respawn as soon as you leave and reenter if you dispose of the corpses. Since Morrowind Rebirth makes money farming more difficult, I made most of my money running that tomb trapping ghost souls. Unfortunately, when I hit level 6, skeletons started having a high chance to spawn instead of the ghosts, and their souls were worth even less, so I had to start making an honest living making potions.

I think its worth noting that changing favored stats to one being luck IS a requirement. Ive tried this 3 times and it wasnt until i made luck a favored stat that this worked. Its the only way to get the summon ancestral ghost starting out. So 3 things matter when setting your skill at start, destruction, conjuration, and luck.

Morrowind can be either easy or hard. It's all up to how you play. I'm 30 now, been playing since 11. I've beaten Morrowind goty on the Xbox (all main quests and faction quests +museum of artifacts) at least 6 times, although that is a conservative estimate. Every time I have played though, I have always taken advantage of creeper/ mudcrab and have always made strong characters for the beginning of the game (which means an ultimately weaker character by endgame due to lower max level). I have decided next time I play, I want to make the game as difficult as possible by restricting certain things. Here is my plan so far: *no creeper/mudcrab * no fast travel, only mysticism and propylon indices *weak af at start (all majors at 30 and all minors at 15) * no resting to restore health outdoors, only in beds. * no manipulation of glitches or game breaking skills like alchemy (I only ever do that stuff for fun anyways, never when making a serious character) *And of course...difficulty set to 100 to start. Pray for me.

I dunno, man, all of that makes sense except the 'difficulty set to 100' part. I've never agreed with the way that Bethesda (and most RPGs in general) handle difficulty. The only change is going to be that you do MUCH less damage to mobs and the mobs do INSANE amounts of damage to you. There are no changes to AI or anything like that. In my opinion, this approach isn't a balanced or interesting way to modify difficulty. It would be much more balanced if the difficulty slider made ALL damage increased, to where you can one-shot mobs just as easily as they can one-shot you. This is much more realistic, and makes a stealth approach even more favorable, which is how it is in the real world. With Bethesda's approach of 'enemies become massive damage sponges while you become paper,' stealth might not even help you if you turn the difficulty all the way up. I would suggest doing one of these things instead: 1) Leaving the difficulty slider alone altogether. 2) Waiting until the game starts to feel 'easy' to bump the slider up, in small increments over time. 3) Perhaps get a mod that increases *all* damage instead of doing the lopsided damage sponge thing. I think you'd still experience considerable risk while feeling good rewards for well-planned battles.

I feel like that would be more organic and fun, but the masochist in me wants to go all out difficulty 100 from the get go, running for my life from rats. May not be fun but would be super satisfying to beat morrowind 100 difficulty all the way. Also....this is embarrassing to admit...I have only ever played morrowind on Xbox. I don't have a PC...I've thought about holding off on this endeavor until I get a PC. I've followed the progress of the tamriel rebuilt mod since my early teens, and part of the reason I have held off on the PC version is because I am waiting for TR to finish. It's uh....been a long wait 😬

@@jimboramba Ouch! Yeah, I would definitely recommend waiting until you have it on PC. The painful thing about Bethesda games on console is that you can't install mods or tweak your files in ways that you can on PC. And while some people might think mods are just for cheating, that's not necessarily the case - there are quite a few 'unofficial bugfix' patches that smooth out a lot of pain points in the game and make your game much less likely to create a borked save file. I've seen so many people suffering from issues that they simply can't fix because they're on console, when it would have been a pretty simple fix on PC. Do yourself a favor and wait until you've got it on PC!

But the difference is that when you set the slider to the max, not only the enemies do insane damage, but you too, which make it a quite interesting game to play. It's high-risk, high-reward. I always do conjuration destruction and mysticism at character creation. Then I get common soul gems and soul trap spell, so I can soul trap the ancestral ghost (you get ancestral ghost from conjuration). Then you can sell common gems for 4K gold!! as long as you replenish your magicka and common soul gem stock, you essentially have an infinite gold machine. It’s crazy others have basically found the same pattern! Your enchanted amulet route makes this all even faster! I would always end up having to use a bound dagger or a spell to trap the ancestral ghost.

I did something similar on my last run. I made a belt that summoned a Golden Saint for 15 seconds, which was the perfect time to fight an enemy or two....or get killed by me by a soul-trap sword. I'd go to Mournhold and buy Grand Soul Gems from the Breton in Craftsmen's Hall, fill them with Golden Saint souls, and sell them to Creeper.

Great video and great find. I want to add two things. In Creeper's building there is a crate with a set of Orcish armor that you can steal and sell to him. The Orcs in the building will shout at you but will not actually do anything. The other thing is that if you type "ra" into the console it will reset actors, meaning all NPCs in your current cell will reset to their default positions. Cheers.

This is one I never knew after years of game play. Thank you. For fun enchant an entire set of jewelry, clothes, and armor with chameleon. My late husband had bought a pet in Mournhold. He took it into a shop. The Ordinator guard killed it. I made him a complete set of chameleon. He went to kill his first Ordinator. The NPC screamed ghost and ran away. My hubby chased him for almost a half hour before he could corner him and kill him. This was in broad daylight in Mournhold. He took the helmets and lined the arena benches. He never got a bit of trouble as he was truly invisible. So if the Ordinators give you too much trouble you know what to do. 🙃☕😉

Something that makes for an interesting challenge: • Enchant an item with constant effect Levitate 0. • Get as far as you can up to the peak of Red Mountain, starting at the shoreline of your choice It's a very odd effect. You appear to be constantly falling but your toe scrapes across the ground. You are not actually floating *above* but rather traveling along whatever polygons you can drag your foot on. You cannot jump. You will not be able to go up stairs. Pits are a death sentence. Also you look really cool like a ninja psychic

They did. It's called compound interest, only it takes forever for the exploit to blossom. But unlike in morrowind, we cannot wait-out 24 hours in an instant while out wealth accrues. The trick is to NEVER be on the paying side of the interest equation, always be on the receiving, and start when you are low level GOOD LUCK!

Had to make a spell to damage speed on XBOX it was an experience. I did spear Ordenators to get money they respawn on cell change and give more loot than the murder bounty. Gives about 3000 per kill if you care about bounty and you're untouchable in the greenery in one of Vivec' upper districts. Fortify on self Soul on target was fun.

Thank you for teaching me new ways to break the game. 😝 My method: Use speechcraft to taunt Ordinators, use absorb health to kill them quickly without bounty, sell the armor and mace to the Mudcrab. But I have 3 separate rings, 1 for Summon Golden Saint 20~ secs, 1 for soul trap and 1 for absorb health 100 pts. And Azura's Star to fit all the giant souls.
