In this video we try to stabilize our Grand Design Reflection 303RLS using two MORryde 5th wheel and trailer stabilizers. The first is the MORryde 5th Wheel Cross Brace Landing Gear stabilizer for the front and the Hitch Mounted Trailer Stabilizer for the back of our rig. We show you how we installed them and what we think of the results.

Our Inception:
We downsized from a three bedroom house in November 2017 to a 2000 Fleetwood Southwind Class A. We dubbed her Southwind Sally. We did some minor renovations with paint and adding new window treatments. In December 2018 we purchased our fifth wheel. It is a 2014 Forest River Columbus 320 RS by Palomino. In February 2020 we hit the road before the COVID-19 Pandemic lockdowns started.
Those lockdowns forced us to hold up at the Tinker, AFB FamCamp in Oklahoma until May. We hit the road again traveling to Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana (where we had floor work done on the Columbus), Ohio and Michigan. We decided we were going to try and make it to Colorado to see the sights, and made our way there. This is when we decided to create our channel.
We have been watching our favorite KZbin channels for years and decided maybe we should start to capture our own adventures. That decision produced our channel Compass Roadz and our first video.

The rear one stays in the hitch. Unbuckle the leg ratchet strap, fold legs up and pin. We have a lock that keeps the hitch mount secure from thieves. When we get leveled at the next site, we put the back down, ratchet and then tighten and pin the front. Maybe takes 30 seconds to complete both. Less if both of us are setting up outside. That’s it. The steadyfast look like a good system. We had JT Strong arms on our last rig. They worked very good as well.

We have the same rig and so your video was very helpful during our installment since as you pointed out the MorRyde video sure made it look much easier ;) I agree it's a great product to cut down on movement and overall easy to install and works as advertised! Thanks again!

Never seen the rear stabilizer like that. Pretty cool. We could definitely use that when our washer machine is going!

My husband tried to install these on our 2021 GD 320 MKS. He was unable to attach the item at the top of the front left leg due to the thickness of the metal. He has tried to put them on with the alternative method but they slip down even though they are torqued per instructions and jam the snap pins. He has called MORryde numerous times and has sent them pictures. They've stopped responding to him and won't answer his emails. So we have this wonderful, expensive system that we can't use. Do you guys have any suggestions or input??

Is it just one of them that doesn’t fit or both?

I had that problem too. It was because there was not quite a straight shot from the top of the arm to the bottom. I don't know if our rig was twisted just a bit or what. To fix this I attached the top end, loosened the bottom bracket just enough so I could wiggle the arm enough to get the pin through. The I tightened the 9/16 bold holding the bottom bracket again. I just could not get the pin in until I loosened it a bit. It is not a big deal since you only have to do those pins once.

What needs to be done with the front cross bars in order to raise the front after hooking up the camper for traveling?
@CompassRoadz
@CompassRoadz Жыл бұрын
Sorry I missed this question. Hopefully you figured it out. But in case not, all you have to do is twist each cross bar and it loosens so it can extend or contract while you raise your landing gear. Then when your landing gear is lowered, simply twist it tight to hold it in place. It works similarly to curtain rods that tighten up against a window frame or shower. Thanks for watching!

We have a bike rack that utilizes the hitch. Can the rear stabilizer still be used with the rack in place or does the bike rack need to be removed?
@CompassRoadz
@CompassRoadz Жыл бұрын
I looked at my MORryde and it does not have a pass through hitch. But if your bike rack does, you could insert the MORryde into your bike rack and leave it. However, we have friends that have one and they don’t leave it in when traveling. They prefer to remove it and put it on when they get to the campground. It really only takes about 30 seconds to remove and install. Thanks for watching.

@@CompassRoadz I was referring to using the rear stabilizer while the bike rack was still in the hitch once at a campground. I asked the same question to eTrailer. They confirmed that I would either have to remove the bike rack to install the stabilizer or get a double hitch receiver which is what I plan on doing.

How much movement is there without the rear stabilizer?
@CompassRoadz
@CompassRoadz 2 жыл бұрын
We notice quite a bit of difference. Here in south Texas we are testing just the front and rear stabilizers without using our X-chocks. After a few days of wind and just walking inside the rig. We made the decision to keep using the X-chocks in addition to our front and rear stabilizers. Thanks for watching.

Hey guys it looks to be nice and stable but it seems like it would be to much work to install and disassemble and store rear ones. I installed the the steadyfast also on my 303rls and are very stable as well and it's just 3 quick knobs you hand tighten only. Safe travels

We did find out about the Steadyfast in our research and it was very similar to our JT Strongarms that we had in our previous 5th wheel which we loved. But, we actually were able to test out the hitch unit at a park that some friends let us use and we were going to be close to Elkhart where MORryde is so we were able to get them right away, the price was good and we saved on shipping. Wait I failed to put in the video is that both stabilizers actually travel where they are installed. The front cross braces - I simply remove the two pins and loosen the tubes so they slide into each other when we raise our landing gear. The hotch mount - I remove the ratchet strap I used to tighten them down and then the legs fold up and lock into place. The ratchet strap is the only thing I need to stow when we travel. I'll be putting that information in the comments and maybe a quick update to the video as a follow on. Thanks for reminding me.

@@CompassRoadz MORryde says this cross-brace can't be used with automatic leveling systems. But it looks like you have the auto leveling system. And since the two tubes slide inside one another by removing the pin, it looks like they would just slide one tube inside the other. Am I missing something? I'm thinking of installing this cross-brace front-to-back rather than cross-brace. I want to stop the front legs from moving front to back when I hitch up our 5th wheel. See any issues with my idea?

You’re right! We do have auto-leveling. We have no problems. They stay on. You just need to make sure you loosen the brace and remove the pins before you start moving the jacks. But we’ve had no problems at all and we love them!! Thanks for watching!!!

Don't need a mallet! Just tighten the nuts and they will squeeze everything into place.
