I operated with the naval base in Portsmouth England in a joint American British operation we got to visit the operators on the base and it was Interesting how they stood up while sending and we always sat down by our typewriters that was back in 1958

*Foxes are Red and Dogs are Brown* ... Introduced to this little ditty back in the my RTTY days in the Army ... The fox was red in those days. But even then some things had been added. The following phrase has all the letters and is considerably shorter, "The quick fox jumps over the lazy brown dog."

Charlie, I have been a ham for 32 years, and only now have gone back to cw. I find it quite the struggle now, but have not given up. Your stories do inspire me, so I wanted to Thank you for doing them. Be well.. de n2qfk

Hi Charlie. I've held a Canadian Amateur Radio license since 1982. I use only Morse. For me, there is something magical about it. I've worked several British destroyers in the mid '80's., as well as people in sailboats in the Pacific and Indian Oceans. It's always a thrill, and it never gets old.I just wanted to say that I find your videos very enjoyable indeed, esp the Widowmaker. I'll try to find your books on Amazon. Keep posting ,OM and thank you.Best 73Bob

To answer a question from below. you're better off learning the characters at 13-20 wpm this will help you build up your word/sentence speed faster than sending the characters slower. Great video Charlie. will look for more. tnx es 72&73 de Ellis WA1RKS

Hi Charlie, would you mind doing some more videos. There aren't a whole lot of you guys that did what you did for a living making these videos, and I find them very interesting!

The character length is pretty fast, maybe 20 wpm... do you advise learning at a slower character speed to gain the right 'weight' or empasis?
@markanderson80665 жыл бұрын
Many people suggest learning the characters sent at the higher speed but with additional spacing so that the overall speed is low, but the characters are each 'fast'. I don't recall how I did it - back in 1970...

Could you please give the web address for info about your 3 books? It was a bit hard to understand in the video.

Hi. They won't allow me to post a link on here. But if you put poet-on-a-hill.blogspot into Google you should be able to get into my blog. From there you can go into KIndle and look inside the books. Or if you follow the link from the blog to Sailing with Hunters you can read it for free, or even copy or download it.. Another way is to put Charlie Gregory into the Amazon Bookstore and, say, The Under Manager or Sailing with Hunters... and that should take you there Regards Charlie

Hi Mr. Gregory. I just wanted to say thanks for doing this videos. You're an amazing story teller with fascinating stories. I've been a licensed amateur radio operator in the states for 21 years and a licensed Master captain for about half that time. I'll definitely be looking for your book(s)! 73, Brian
