He's actually acting, rather than just coasting thru on natural charm. That's the downside of being talented and charming: it can be enough to let you get complacent and just float on. Don't get me wrong, I loved 'Castle', and Fillion since '2 Guys', but he has a bad habit of getting comfy and then sitting back at 70-75% and letting it roll. Which is why I haven't bothered with 'The Rookie' to date, but these KZbin clips are quickly changing my mind...

If you never learn any other word in Morse code learn SOS, international code for "help": ... _ _ _ ...
@chaosgyro4 ай бұрын
It's mostly used with sound tones with the same idea. Long sounds for dashes and short sounds are for dots. A particular combination of dots and dashes corresponds to every letter in the alphabet, and numbers as well. It was how we communicated before the telephone by sending tones across telegraph wires to trained operators who would write down the messages and have them delivered to the proper recipient.
@jmfarouche66883 ай бұрын
@@chaosgyroMy uncle was telegraph operator for railroad in 1950-1960s so when I was a child he gave me a telegraph key and a code chart and made me practice for hours whenever we visited ( I really did want to learn because of all the old stories he told us ). It was more exciting than video games in the early 1970’s😂
@KeithJDavies3 ай бұрын
@@chaosgyro 'sound'? Originally it was a signal that caused a styles to mark the dot or dash... but telegraph operators learned to recognize the scratching sounds and transcode from that. They still had the paper record, but they would have the text as it came in. It went to audio when wireless became readily available, and video (flashing lights) with mirrors, and later lights (when those got bright enough and well-enough controlled... doesn't work well with oil lanterns, unless you're willing to go slow).
