I was also annoyed by some changes, but I suspect some of the larger ones were in order to make the sequels more connected. Overall I enjoyed it.

@@captainbritain7379 as a film it was almost subpar with many people just appreciating the visuals , seeing London materialized on the big screen. Shots were decent but movement was slow and scenes made cliche, for example when Hester stabbed Valentine, Deaths hold no emotional value unless you force yourself to. If your talking about continuity between sequels i doubt the changes were made because of that. more probable would be budget since alot of the scenes in the book switch between much more places than in the movie. In the book the ancients seemed to have been more advanced than our current timeline so why have shots of our current modern day cities? why not make new impressive futuristic cities? The Earths crust breaking up? what the fuck

Well, saw it today - not too bad, but you can not really relate to Hester - we just dont feel with her. CGI is nice - but the film is also full of cliches. Some air-battles are overdone - it looks almost like star wars sometimes. All in all: disappointing.

Your not meant to relate to hester. Even in the books. Shes meant to be this crazed, murdering scarred girl who doesnt like talking to people and is hellbent on killing valentine. Tom is meant to be the relatable one, not hester.
