I love this version of Raiden, and not because of the nostalgia for the movie. The last Raidens looked like Power Rangers whose uniform had influences from an Asian rice gatherer. This Raiden really looks like the "Avatar of a God", a superior entity that has chosen a humble carcass to present itself to others, as if they were simple clouds, but if you make the mistake of underestimating it you will face the power of thunder, unleashing a mighty storm. And on top of that Christopher Lambert's raspy voice only adds characterization. He is a god, the protector of the earth, immortal, but he has spent so many millennia defending it from Outworld, watching so many champions rise and fall in Mortal Kombat, finish a tournament to immediately prepare the next champion for the next, who has aged or feels an old. He is wiser and more powerful than many, but his duty has made him forget what it is to be a god. Perhaps even the choice of such a humble carcass started as a hoax, but, over the millennia, it has become its true self. Maybe I'm reading too deep for what a simple character skin really is, but I wish this Raiden was the official one in the future, really.
