I'd have to 50/50 agree with you, Cole Young did end up having a bit too much screen time to where it messed up giving Lui Kang and other characters more of an inclusion in it altogether.. But I did like the fact that Cole was a descendant of Scorpion, basically having the main character be from like Scorpion's family/clan, cuz Scorpion was always my favorite even tho a lot of Ppl liked Sub-Zero more so that was dope in a way, but for sure they gotta balance the screen time in MK2.. Excited to hear Quan-Chi is finally gonna make an Intro. in a movie for the first time tho, Quan-Chi was just different, really giving the Crazy/Sorcerer vibes

@@stevebrown985 nah I agree with him and parts of this video completely, Cole & arcana was/is completely unnecessary as like 98 percent of character’s abilities have their own explanation & they just made Cole up for the movie. MK itself already has a VAST story outline they could’ve stuck to. Overall I’d say the movie was above average, and especially compared to the other movies it’s great. All WB has to do is somewhat follow the already canon story and they have an entire saga on their hands. With the whole initial timeline from the early games to deadly alliance thru Armageddon then it being a flashback with 9 changing the story for a different outcome bring us all the way up to 1 with the new timeline. Could EASILY make 9 movies. 3 movies per saga

I don't trust Ed since he is just a simple guy who easy to be pleased. He once state he love MK Rebirth and Legacy, which let be real this two story pretty much mess up actual MK lore as well. From what we saw of how the movie turn out, I doubt Ed got anything to say or give input to the script. Greg Russo even admit he know too well how MK fans will react when the movie will focus on some original character, and Liu Kang is just a side character. Greg even openly admit he has too blocked some outrages people on Twitter bcoz of that. There is one podcast, I forgot what channel do, but Greg state that it was WB demand to do original character as the main hero, and he try to justify this MK2021 as part of one of the new timeline that has been created by the Fire God Liu Kang. But consider that Tyler Landsdown state they don't want anything to do with MK2021 stuff, I guess majority of NRS team doesn't really count MK2021 as part of their multiverse canon.

Not a bad movie in my eyes if u remove the MK title from it. But it didn't feel true to the MK lore to me. And like other movies nowadays there was quite a bit of Marvel-like quips and jokes, which is fine from a few characters but overall isn't the normal tone of the franchise. Plus, I expect lots of well choreographed martial arts fighting similar to old Jet Li movies and the like. Instead it was the typical American action film choreography with a little true martial arts sprinkled in.

I really have no idea why modern movie makers are so obsessed with remakes of the original movies or making entirely new movies completely unrelated to the original ones. The reason why that "Mortal Kombat" movie in 2021 was so hated and disliked is because Mortal Kombat already had 2 consecutive brillian movies: Mortal Kombat 1 (1995) and Mortal Kombat 2 Annihilation (1997). I kind of lost excitement for this movie, they habe other movies that already have teasers and trailers and all so far for the mortal kombat movie sequel is a few BTS and a glimpse at some of the characters costumes and i think a few locations but they've already finished filming, they have 30 days in this month and we are almost into may,fans should at least se a teaser trailer next month, they have 30 or 31 days can't remember right now but with that many days everyone should be seeing full costumes or characters posters or a teaser trailer, so i still want to see it but i have no reason to get excited for it when they're is very little to show for this movie and im sure some fans feel the same way,there is alot of hype for this movie but very little info to get hype for it and yeah i get the be patient but when u are finished filming and other movies are already showing at least a teaer trailer and u were finished before half of them doesn't really show signs of a movie to get hyped for and last thing when they do show something hopefully its not to much because fans will already than seen and speculate what will happen in the movie.

y'all talk about lore so much but don't even understand MK lore. cole shouldn't be deleted and isn't a whack character. MK has multiple universes if you actually pay attention. So cole being a character isn't subtracting from the MK series. I Agree Lui Kang should have more screen time but trying to remove Cole is completely unnecessary. he's a good character and wraps in with the whole scorpion back story. there's nothing wrong with adding new characters into the film. especially if it's just one dude.
