It's definitely _closer_ to the Arcade version than the Genesis version, that's for sure. The new additions, while nice, don't add anything substantial to the gameplay.

The samples seem to use the 32X's PWM sound capabilities, PWM being a type of sample, which is something that seems little-known about the 32X hardware. The intro to Tempo is a great example of 32X add-on sound in action. There's also a WWF game that makes heavy use of PWM samples for its sound effects.

The character graphics are about as accurate as the arcade, but the backgrounds look a little flat. The sound is the same: sound effects are near perfect but the music is Genesis quality. Definitely worth having and playing.

Played this with my bros a lot as a kid. Though I played it on the SNES instead of the Sega Genesis or 32X (I played this version that you’re playing at my friend’s house), I remember with the AI input reading me like an open book. Always hated that in the arcade original and always hated it on any version I played it on. Still fun playing with family and friends. Damn man! You’re making it look easy defeating your opponents!

Haha thanks! This game pisses me off so much. A lot of times it feels like you only win when the AI feels like allowing it. SSF2T had the same problem.

​@@NintendoCompleteAt least with Turbo, I kinda get why I lost. Bad inputs. Punished from bad habits. Movement being repetitive. The MK games, they flat out read your inputs. I heard the Genesis version is not as bad.

@@NintendoComplete You need to cheese the AI to win all the time. Once you know the AI's weaknesses, then its easy to win. Otherwise the AI reads your inputs and rips you apart. Two or three matches and it will kick in fully. thats why people think you only win because the AI allows it. 32x version will randomly start going hardmode but if you know the AIs weaknesses it wont matter.

While I appreciate the enhanced visuals, character bios and voice samples (1:17) from the arcade version, it feels more like an upgraded Genesis title than a 32X title. By no means is this a bad port. But for a $150 add-on, you would have expected a little more.

I love how the bosses and the living forest still get utterly shafted in the sample department, as well as the samples present in the Genesis version not being updated whatsoever for consistent quality with all the new ones, and the rather laughable pitching up of Raiden's teleport and Shang Tsung's fireball--wow there's actually a lot to pick apart sound-wise. I should stop. So, *so* close.

Sound effects that should've been replaced with the arcade ones- Baraka's spark, Reptile's acid, Jax's energy wave, Rayden's bolt, Kitana's fan lift, Sub-Zero's ice, Cage's energy balls, Kung Lao's hat throw, Scorpion's spear, Kintaro's roar & Kahn's laugh. There are more than this too Very good game though because the intro screens, color/background improvements & 40 arcade perfect sound effects added in made the original Genesis game so much better. Would've loved to see what Sculptured Software could've done with these 32 megs after seeing what they did with 24 on the SNES

Yup, and nope! But you can get that effect by dropping the video quality down to 360p or 240p.

Does your emulator not have a filter on the source level? There's GENS that has amazing filters that look great on high resolutions. Reducing the definition on KZbin looks very distorted and choppy IMO@@NintendoComplete

@greenfire9402 It does, but I prefer raw unfiltered footage for console games. Filters also add a ton of complexity to the image, and that often leads to visible compression artifacts in the video stream. You might also try it at 720p60 if the lower options are too rough. It still looks pretty clean, but the way it resamples the image softens some of the pixel sharpness.

There's a good rendering option that I use called 2x Sai (Kreed) it looks pretty good. The original isn't bad at all. I just prefer a more smooth look on the video rendering I suppose
