But yea when compared to Genesis it's far less responsive, like youl miss even simple moves until you adjust to it's slower pace. Hard to explain. But yea graphically it looks better than Genesis. Infact it was the one game that made me admit to my friend snes had better graphics. But id get furiated with it hehe, we'd have more fun at my place with the sega6button and blood. Someone b4 me was kind enough to write the blood code in the manual along with fatalities otherwise I wouldn't have even known.

Sobre a censura o lance é o seguinte... no Japão... sempre houve uma maior aceitação de conteúdos com imagens "sensuais", porém menor aceitação de conteúdos violentos para se vender com a qualificação CERO D (17 anos pra cima), diferente dos EUA onde pra vender com ESRB M (maiores de 18) violência é mais aceitavel do que graficos que sensualizam... é por isso que geralmente nos EUA se censuram conteúdos graficos de teor sensual(ex. graficos da ken marinaris com decote modificadas no zone of the enders 2 EUA), enquanto que no Japão o mais comum é censurarem violência (ex. resident evil 2 remake com diversas cenas censuradas no JP). some isso ao fato de, nessa época, a nintendo fazer um forte controle de conteúdo pra ser "family fiendly" principalmente no Japão, e isso explica a razão de somente a versão Super Famicom ser censurada... a nintendo vem mudando um pouco essa postura nas ultimas gerações, mas o lance de violência e sensualidade ainda valem em ambos mercados... EUA e Japão... basta ver que Resident 7 e remake 2 tiveram duas versões a venda no Japão... a versão CERO D (com cortes) e a versão CERO Z (para adultos e uncut)... vale lembrar que tanto no japão como nos EUA, tem varias lojas que simplesmente não vendem o game com categoria ESRB A e CERO Z (por ambos serem considerados conteúdo adulto). por isso as empresas lutam pra conseguir colocar os games no mercado com no maximo ERSB M ou CERO D...

Mesmo com a Censura(vale lembrar que existe a versão sem censura), a versão do SNES ainda é muito boa pra jogar, diferente do primeiro jogo onde a jogabilidade é desastrosa. Amo a versão do Mega, mesmo com várias perdas no som e gráficos ,tem jogabilidade excelente, os controles funcionam muito bem. Falo muito na jogabilidade pois pra mim é a parte mais importante de um jogo. Então, se for pelo que estou VENDO e OUVINDO, o SNES é muito melhor; agora se for pelo que estou JOGANDO, o Mega é muito melhor.

Most would agree the 32x version is better than Snes even though 32x mk2 plays identical to Genesis mk2 and has the same soundtrack. I own all 3. Genesis is slightly tighter in gameplay responsiveness, runs in a higher resolution, and Barakas fan blade doesn't slow the game. The few extra colors on snes doesn't help that much to say it's better.

Cresci jogando a versão do Mega, e não entendia como consoles semelhantes, a diferença entre as versões nas vozes, um tem outro não. Eu tenho as duas na minha humilde coleção, mas depois de conhecer a versão do 32X, não voltei mais a jogar essas do vídeo. 32X é praticamente o arcade em casa. Excelente comparativo, abraço.

E a probe mais uma vez teve preguiça no port do jogo para o mega... Versão do Snes leva boa vantagem técnica, principalmente nos efeitos sonoros e vozes, porém as músicas, eu particularmente prefiro as do mega. Nos controles, ambas as versões são muito boas, porém na minha opinião, jogar a versão do mega usando o controle de 6 botões, fica com a disposição dos botões mais próxima do arcade e por esse motivo leva alguma vantagem no quesito jogabilidade. E interessante que na época do lançamento do jogo para os 16 bits, a discussão em revistas de games e com a galera em geral não era tanto em cima de diferenças gráficas entre as versões e sim sobre os efeitos sonoros estranhos e da quase total ausência de vozes do jogo para o mega. Enfim, os 16 bits fazem parte de uma época de ouro, a qual tive o privilégio de participar do início ao fim.

MK3 definitely it's not equal. The worst collor palette of Genesis shows, and you are ignoring details like character shadows, blood and bones and limbs that disappear on Genesis, while on snes it keeps on screen, don't get me start on Genesis poor soundchip, etc... The only advantage of Genesis in UMK3, is the fact it contains 3, 4 more stages. But it has the same problems I said about MK3. So we can say it could be a tie, if not the fact that graphics on Genesis are simply ugly and annoying, to people more used to refined graphics.

While it seems strange that the Japanese would censor blood and gore, it's not wholly unheard of. The whole of the classic "Hokuto no Ken"/"Fist of the North Star" and it's animated feature film counterpart were censored for blood and gore in it's native country.

I payed $80 for this game on release day! Only the rx drug store had a copy(go figure right) and i am seeing over time that this game has been re-re-reviewed and people today are choosing the snes version over genesis/md but i can tell you that 30 years ago one system was just cooler than the others. Not to mention that sega's new 6 button controller had sold out everywhere for this game. Sega wins this one for me hands down. And yes, i did play some of the snes version at the time. We always went to the movie store and rented the same games for different systems to see which was better.

It wins for you, because it may very well be the first version on a home console you played. I'm the opposite, I played the SNES version days before the Genesis version, was quite disappointed that the Genesis version had less animation (I expected a bit more in the sound department with speech, but Probe messed up), and the body parts disappeared if you blew your opponent up.

@Apharmd Battler You clearly is talking about MK 1 on a MK2 video. All you said, apply to MK1. The gameplay is fast and intact in MK2 on Snes. The standing position on Genesis has more sprites: the other moves and victory poses has more sprites on Snes (like Baraka victory pose for example). Blood spurts on fatality disappear on Genesis, on Snes, it stills on the ground, same for generic limbs and bones. Shadows of characters is a circle on Genesis, on Snes, it has the format of the sprite being executed. Backgrounds like the Acid Pit is much better, detailed and vibrant on Snes than on Genesis. About sound, it's muffled on Snes, but Genesis sounds like harsh instruments doing Blip Blip. 99% of people simply think is annoying, not better... The resolution is irrelevant when sprites are kept proportional on what is being shown at screen, plus, it's just not a big difference, more like 40pixels rows (you're using the mindset of today comparison standards to 90's consoles, where resolutions were irrelevant, since 99% of tv's had 640x480 resolution). Can be more relevant today, playing on emulators in HD screens, but you forgot these games were designed to be played on tube TV's, that have scanlines, which brought down the image details, making the slightly better resolution nullified. Resolution don't define better graphics anyways, what define is the design, good use of palettes, parallax, effects, etc... which is usually better on Snes games, due to the lack of colors and effects on Genesis. After watching this specific video, I had two instances of emulators open at same time, one for genesis and one for Snes. Snes version is definitely better in absolutely everything, which doesn't mean you can't have a good time with the Genesis version. It's just and plain simple fanboysm to say Genesis version is better. Have in mind that, MK2 ports were handled different than MK1 ports, and to judge MK2, having MK1 in mind, is a very big mistake.

It's not a mystery, The cause of the censorship of MK1 on Snes, it was well discussed in that year of release. Nintendo (Japan matrix), only allowed MK1 in any version of Snes, if the developer could tone down the violence. It's important to understand, that it was the first digitized game with such level of gore. Few games had gruesome imagery in that age, and all of them, were pixel art. For Mortal Kombat 2, is easy to understand, that the initial impact of MK1 was diluted, people grow used to that level of violence in games, and Nintendo allowed other versions than Mk2 in Japan, to show all the violence in the game. About MK2 being the best MK on Snes, you can't say that as a fact, because it's a subjective opinion. MK3 has almost everything the arcade had (despite of some intro scenes and the cemetery stage), including combos, all characters, violence, etc... And plus, the gap between Snes/Genesis is bigger in MK3 than MK2. MK3 on Genesis is graphically atrocious, don't let me start with the sounds...

Infelizmente o port do Mortal kombat 2 do Mega Drive ficou bem fraco,não é de todo ruim,a jogabilidade é ótima principalmente com o belo controle de 6 botões,a trilha sonora também ficou boa para o padrão do Mega Drive,mas no restante ficou bem capado,o port do Super Nintendo mesmo com censura no conjunto geral é superior,o port do Sega 32x esse sim ficou legal e o Mega Drive rodaria tranquilamente se fosse bem portado,mas como não ocorreu Mortal kombat 2 do Super Nintendo continua sendo o conjunto melhor.

I feel like the Super Nintendo version was better all around. It looked & sounded closer to the original Arcade version + it had the Arcade accurate bio & ending artwork, but scaled down (to that, I say "M'eh, close enough"). The music tracks in the Super Nintendo version were closer to the original Arcade version (meaning that no tracks were reused in different arenas) with the exception of Goro's Lair theme (funny since Sega Genesis version lacks Goro's Lair but has The Blue Portal instead). The Blue Portal in the Sega Genesis version has The Kombat Tomb theme while Goro's Lair in the Super Nintendo version uses The Dead Pool theme. The voice over in the Super Nintendo is much more Arcade accurate but still not 100% identical to it since Shao Kahn is missing his normal grunts & were replaced with different ones & Kintaro's roar for certain attacks. In the USA, the Super Nintendo version is uncensored (no code needed), meaning the blood is red & the fatalities are in full color.

I generally like Super Nintendo better but there are some games I feel did better on Sega Genesis. I'm looking in your direction, Toy Story & NBA Jam. That's about the only advantage it had, it felt faster than the arcade game, but Probe missed the mark with MK 1 and MK2. We saw what happened when someone competent worked on the 3rd game (Sculptured Software), it turned out to be the best of the MK games on the Genesis, and held it's own against the SNES version.

I don't really understand your statement that SMB2 was censored? It's based on an Japan exclusive game, Doki Doki Panic. Nintendo of America needed a better sequel to SMB than japanese SMB2 ("Lost levels" in Super Mario Allstars), so they more or less made a mod - they didn’t censor it! Many NES och SNES games were censored, like Devils World, Super Mario Kart and Chrono Trigger.

I like the presentation and the sound better on the Sega Genesis / Mega Drive, but SNES undeniably had better in-game graphics and was probably the better port. However, the Sega 32X blew them both out of the water.

Back then it was 150 at launch for about a year and dropped to 99 with a free games and later three free games. Year after it was 50. When I bought mine from Walmart, it was 15 new. 32X version was superior to any home port including Saturn and PSX. Best gameplay and no load times. And bulky? It was half the size of a Genesis model 2, and 1/4 of the size of a Genesis model 1. You're complaining to complain. Total nonsense.

Achei as musicas e efeitos sonoros no Mega melhor ( sei que faltam vozes em comparação ao snes). Mas achei mais claros por incrível que pareça. Alguns cenários com a palheta de cores reduzidas do Mega ficou mais sombrio e bonitos ao meu ver. Sem falar que há censura, sangue verde, falta de animações e tela preta na hora dos fatalites. Daria um empate dadas as circunstancias.

Yet critics cheered the SNES version, and didn't cheer for the Genesis version. Sorry buddy, the SNES version is the clear cut better choice here, the Genesis is missing far too much animation and sounds to be top dog. The 32X version even slaughters the Genesis, though the backgrounds and music didn't see any kind of upgrade (other than bringing back the floating monk in the Tower stage, and pterodactyls in the Kombat Tomb stage), just text and sprites saw any kind of upgrade. Hell body parts disappear when an opponent blows up as well on the Genesis version, an oddity. Critics were right about the better choice (the SNES version, even Genesis owners say the same thing), and your choice is incorrect. Both versions with certain characters though, are piss easy, even on hardest settings.

I like MD version more, though i admit that the sound and the graphics slightly better on SNES. But the music is definitely delivers more on MD. And it's very strange that there is no acid movement on the acid pool stage on SNES comparing to MD.

While the original MK is better on Genesis, Super Nintendo wins this one with the uncensored USA version. Genesis' MKII lacks the crouching low punch, and certain background details in some stages (such as that floating monk in The Tower, and the animated crowds in Shao Kahn's arena). While the SNES port of the first MK has wonky controls, SNES MKII plays fine.

Sempre dá para melhorar no áudio, estão aí os hacks no Mega para provar isso! O que não tem como melhorar é a quantidade de cores na tela, que no Mega era 64, no SNES dependendo de quanto se precisava em cada jogo teoricamente era de 256 o máximo.
