True a lot of inconsistencies but It was a symbolic nod. If you notice after this game was made MORTAL KOMBAT and INJUSTICE completely re-incarnated their universes. So Those games make up for what this one Lacks...Besides the gameplay was pretty awesome.

Due to several team ups it’s quite possible that Kitana was sent with Baraka to deal with Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel and successfully defeated them. If we remember this pattern Joker and Deathstroke defeated Kano and Sonya Shang Tsung and Liu Kang defeated Superman and Green Lantern Lex and Catwoman defeated Scorpion and Sub-Zero Although only Liu Kang, Kano, and Joker got consumed by the rage. So if they had let us do the chapter where we got to play as either Kitana or Baraka, we would have figured out what happened from their standpoint

1:30:38 Surely Liu Kang would easily defeat Dark Kahn. In fact, he would do better than Raiden and Superman together because he defeated more powerful villains. For example: Liu Kang defeated Kronika (The mother of Shinnok and Cetrion) with Raiden's help at the end of Chapter 12 of the Story Mode of the Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate video game. Not to mention Shang Tsung at the end of chapter 17. Liu Kang defeated Shang Tsung and Shao Kahn in the second Mortal Kombat Legends animated movie (Battle of the Realms). Not to mention that with the help of the Elder Gods, Liu Kang defeated Shinnok fused with the Kamidogu (The remnants of the One Being).

This was made YEARS before MK 11, hell, even before MK9 where most of the stuff you mention didn't happen. And Liu Kang defeated Kronika and Shang Tsung with Raiden's aid, he literally gave Liu Kang his powers. And in regards to the Battle of the Realms, same thing, made YEARS before this, and its giving Liu Kang powers he didn't have during this time. Also Dark Kahn literally fused two universe. He'd on par, if not equal, to Kronika frankly, in terms of raw power.
