Mortal Kombat X is by far the most anticipated game of the year so far. And with good reason. This game is a must buy for any fighting game fan. The story is excellent, the graphics are superb, and the fighting is fast and electric. It lives up to the standard set by MK9. This game is the complete package. The story while short, is like a big budget hollywood-popcorn movie. You'll spend the bulk of your time playing on arcade mode, or online. The Krypt in itself will keep you occupied for hours just trying to find its secrets and unlocking its different pathways.
Following the defeat of Shao Kahn, Shinnok attacks Earth with his army of Netherrealm forces, including the resurrected Earthrealm warriors who were killed during Kahn's invasion and are now under Quan Chi's control. You will fight as some of Mortal Kombat's most beloved characters, including Johnny Cage, Sonya Blade, Jax, Sub Zero and Raiden. You will also take the control of some brand new characters, including Cassie Cage, Jacqui Briggs, and Kung Jin. This is one of the few times where we see long spans of time pass by, as the story is told in a non-linear fashion. There is feeling that is is somewhat the "next-generation" since many of the new characters are the children or young relatives of classic characters. NetherRealm Studios have done an amazing job with this game, and is definitely worthy of a purchase.
As always, we used relevant gameplay, important dialogue and all cutscenes, to create one fluid cinematic experience. With the gameplay sections we didn't just cut it to show when we were beating up the opponent. We left both sides of the fight to help make it feel more realistic. Okay, I get the fact that Cassie defeating Shinnok by herself with that "Shadow Ability" was bull, I get that, I'm kinda annoyed with that, should Raiden have been more involved in Shinnok's defeat? Yes. But Cassie winning isn't some "Feminist conspiracy" it isn't Netherrelms "pandering to Americans", it's just them trying to build Cassie as a believable protagonist, think about it. Shinnok is more powerful than Shao Khan, Cassie defeats Shinook, makes her into the big badass does it not? And before any of you jump on me, yes I liked Cassie, she's probably the only one of the "new Kombatants" I can stand :/. I could totally see in MKXI Johnny sending Cassie off to get trained by Sub Zero and Scorpion or Raiden to kick ass sorts of ass.

Fantastic story - reminds me of the very first MK movie which is great!! You can feel that 90s atmosphere. New characters are decent and I'm so glad to see the classic ones. The whole gameplay became faster than in MK9. I really felt that chaos around me. The arenas are brilliant! Even the Krypt mode is great. My favorite fighters are: Mileena, Johnny Cage, Ermac, Scorpion, Liu Kang, Kitana, Sonya Blade, D'Vorah, Kung Jin and Kenshi.

It's not that Cassie was able to take down corrupted Shinnok that irks me. It's how the Kombat Kids were able to take down the revenants (some of the greatest Kombatants) while being outnumbered, while sort of spoiling some of the new Kombatants (Erron Black, awesome presence, kind of used as a whipping boy). It felt like they were trying too hard to make the new generation better than the old and changing too much of the old (I don't get why Scorpion has to suddenly revert to Hanzo Hasashi so much). But I guess that's always going to happen with fighting games, the group or individual that shines the most in the end is going to get a lot of flak because everyone has their own favourite fighter who they think, in this case, would have taken Shinnok down better.

This was one of the best video game movies ever :). Gotta lot Netherrealm, they really went all out on this one. Even the lines didn't seem as cheesy as MK9. My fav scene is the one where Hanzo meets Sub-Zero at the Lin-Quei temple. One question though still haunts me. When did Scorpion and Sub-Zero become human again? Last i know of them they were still with Quan-Chi. It is not shown in the story. Anyway, thank you GLP for making this great movie and for also putting in the fight scenes. I came here after trying to watch another MKX game movie that had no fight scenes. It just doesn't seem like MK without the fight scenes :).

The graphics is fucking awesome. Nice gameplay by the way. This game really deserves to be a "GAME MOVIE". The graphics is so high resolution, its like watching a real 3d animated movie. By the way, I mean this game already had CGI quality.

For the next game, they should add more Japanese Shinto Deities like Susano'o No Mikoto (Shinto God of Storms, Oceans and the Unseen). They should also add alternate skins for Raiden and Fujin called "Kami" which would give them their original Shinto god appearance (Many Shinto Gods, especially Raijin and Fujin resemble demons or ogres). They should also bring back animalities, Kreate a fighter, and MK minigames.

The storyline is cool & stuff but the whole Cage family as the heroes, nope I'm not buying it. I would have rather seen a child from Liu Kang or something.

sukislide So you would rather have it be about Liu "boring" Kang's (who literally is as boring as the old Johnny Cage from the previous games) and kid being the heroes. The difference between the old and new Johnny is that in previous games and MK9 he was very dorky and used for comic relief. Where as in MKX he taking the situation more seriously and has actually become a badass something Liu "boring" Kang was forced on the story. That is what surprised about MKX and it was nice change to focus a different character as the main like they did in MK9 with Raiden. If I was writing the story I would have had Takeda taken on the last boss instead considering he was trained by the best characters in the series Kenshi and Scorpion.

Well I did say the storyline was cool, its just the main hero thing I'm buying it. Sonya Blade has always been boring to me & Johnny cage seemed like comic relief. I bet a lot MK fans would love to see a Liu Kang child, but at least we got someone related to Kung Lao. At the end of the day, I still don't buy the Cage family thing as the heroes, but nice try though.
