I have a theory that we’ll get an invasion centered around Sektor who will be male because it would not make sense that he’s female in multiple different timelines. I’ve also argued this change with so many people on the internet. I’ve asked what if they made Sonya, Kitana, Jade and Mileena male and a lot of people say this “I don’t care as long as they still play the same” which makes no sense. This is so sad. I was obsessed with MK as a young girl in 90s. I loved the mysterious Cyrax and Sektor, and they didn't make me feel "underrepresented." As someone who is a big fan of Sektor and Cyrax, the moment I saw them gender swapped, it really hurt. I felt betrayed. They took two of my favorite characters and just destroyed them for DEI points. These are two OG characters too. Maybe they weren't the most popular characters, because they're no Liu Kang, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Shao Kahn or Shang Tsung, but you don't do that to your characters. Especially not when they are characters of the original trilogy. The fact that they did this to characters from the OG trilogy means nothing is safe.

The last GOOD Mortal Kombat game, made by the " old guard " of Midway was MK9. It was the ultimate, the perfect and most absolute " love letter " to the fans! Storywise though, the franchise should have ended in Armageddon! The OG Midway timeline consisted of 9 games ( Mythologies and Special Forces included which had always been canon ) and had perfect world building, engaging story telling, great character development and power scaling that actually made sense!

I remember when Mortal Kombat was pushing the limits of censorship. Whenever anything violence-related or sex-appeal related was targeted for controversy, the devs would double down everytime and all the gamers enjoyed it. The massive tilt to radical politics and pro-censorship actually changed in other recent versions of MK. It's a shame, because from what I've seen, the fatalities still mostly look cool.

They have been pushing the line more and more since MK11. They slowly pushed Mileena in to a lesbian since MKX. Jax’s MK11 tower ending, Janet Cage, flattening and taking away normal female curves, giving the females androgynous facial features and overall bad design choices in characters. The current story writer/writers is absolutely horrible. He either doesn’t truly care and/or he just wants to write MK in “his” image like all the other DEI adjacent people do. They have reset the timeline once again in such a short amount of time due to poor writing and wanting to “rewrite history”. He has butchered countless characters because he ultimately isn’t fit for the job.

Mortal Kombat has been woke since MKX. I don’t know why this is so shocking. Even Ed Boon came out with some brain damaged take. I was tempted to buy MK11 for Spawn, but I simply didn’t.
